Ships Engaged But Not Firing
So, I'm having this issue where my ships will engage with the enemy fleet but not fire their weapons. Not even the enemy ships will fire. It's not like that other bug that people have where their fleets act like there are no enemies present at all, either. My ships are engaged, they're all swarming around each other, there are just only two, maybe three guns firing.

This isn't a problem I had the last time I was playing. I haven't added any mods since then. The only change is the 3.6 Orion update. I haven't gotten the chance to start removing mods. Honestly, I can't imagine which of my mods could be causing the problem anyways.

That doesn't mean I won't try. It's just a bit of a process cause the game takes so long to load. I'll start with the outdated ones. But I thought I'd post this. Maybe someone else is having the same problem and already knows which mod is the issue.

UPDATE:
I found the problem mod. It was the "Engineers of Life" mod. That seemed to be causing the issue that led to my specific problem which, once again, is different than the ones I've seen other people having when I was Googling for solutions. Just leaving this here for anyone else who's having the same problem. Their ships engaging in a fight and circling around each other but nobody's firing any weapons.

It's a bug that has been in the game since day one. All you can do is quit the game, and load the save, it should work again, hopefully you still have a fleet.
Come now, be serious, game just came out in 2016, you expect the devs to have all bugs fixed by now??? Like having ships shoot each other is HARD. Yes its the foundation of the game, but that just sometimes not work at all so give the devs more time, they clearly need it. Perhaps by 2026 on its 10 year anniversary well get an update that gets things working right, always

Swarm and torpedo computers are bugged right now so try not to use them.

I have a similar problem, ships kill close range enemy then fly in circles while enemy long range ships keep firing and killing my fleet. I dont use any outdated mods and this never happened last big game update.

Thats with my ships having picket and arty cpus too.

See, that's what I was seeing all over Google, but I'm pretty sure that's for a different bug. For one, reloading the game doesn't fix it. On top of that, the problem other people seem to be having is slightly different than what I'm experiencing.

That's almost certainly the actual issue of the thing you're describing. When ships swarm around each other but don't fire despite being in range, that usually means that the weapon_components.csv can't be read, and thus the game does not know what these weapons do. That file was updated in 3.6 with a new table structure, so mods from pre 3.6 won't work properly.

If the ship strength numbers are also much lower than they should be, that would be further evidence.

Well, at least it's good to know it's not *directly* a mod's fault. I'll start by just removing/looking for updated versions of all my outdated mods.

Although, I'm not having the lower power numbers problem you mentioned. Something I noticed was actually the opposite. I've pretty much just started the game, but my fleet of 44 corvettes and 2 destroyers is almost 131k fleet power through no effort on my part.
