Does Transgenesis work?

So i just killed the Tiyanki Matriarch, and i have done Genetic Ascension.. what do i do? I'm not getting any new technologies.

Looks to me like the effect only onlocks the research option but doesn't add them.
That would mean you have to still have to be lucky and get the research option.

Leviathan Transgenesis requires foremost the defeat of a space dragon, either the Shard, Ember Drake or Sky Dragon, then scan the system, an event will pop up for it, until then you wont have access to any Leviathan-based gene techs.

The transgenesis traits have to be added to the species the same way you would add "extra strong" or "nomadic". You only need to research the one tech, no need to do it for each trait. And also kill the corresponding boss.
