"Sector Capitals need to be at least 5 jumps apart"
is lame

And the opposite of reality, because you would want a capitol for a new vassal state to be as close to your borders as humanly possible. So you're capable of defending it in the event of an uprising.

And what is a sector if not basically a smaller, interned empire under your control, like a protectorate or vassal, anyway?

With generally having fewer leaders now, and with only the planet that a governor is assigned to getting the full benefit of their traits, it is more important than ever to make the seat of a sector be a key planet. The old system of forcing limits on the proximity of sector capitals is especially damaging in this new environment. They should remove the limit entirely, and allow sectors to be formed anywhere. This will allow players to plan sector layouts in a way that makes sense for the actual location of planets in their empire, rather than potentially being caught in situations where all of the available options are bad ones.

Well yeah, because sectors are 4 jumps radius, so if you made it less then 5, it would be inside an existing sector.

I assumed the post meant that it had to be 5 jumps from the main sector border.

Why would you assume that, it's not even what the post said, they specifically said Sector Capitals not borders.

Because the question wouldn't make sense if it was stating the "no duh".

Welcome to steam forums, people ask "no duh" questions all the time and people that dont actually know what they're talking about try to answer said questions and cause more confusion.

The OP isn't a question, fwiw.

It's kind of a pointless restriction anyway, since in many cases you can just create a new sector within the range limitations, and then - for free - move its capital to the planet that you actually want to be the capital, no matter how close it is to other sector capitals. For whatever reason, the game only checks during sector creation, not for moving capitals.

That is interesting to know. :MHRISE_OK:
