do you have a science ship there too to make sure can do?
do you have any sort of mod active?
what version of stellaris are you playing?
I'm not using any mods, just playing the base version of the game with no DLC. I'll move a science ship there and see if that helps. My ships are right next to the enemy ship. We are all in the same orbit.
Definitely appreciate the reply. This is not a new issue. You can do a quick search and see that for years, people have had the same problem. It is frustrating because I'm doing a tutorial, so you just assume that a tutorial is going to walk you through the game to an extent, and I'm stuck here because I would like to move on from this mission. I have met all the conditions and still, it doesn't work. Meanwhile there is an enemy ship in red, just orbiting my system, and there is nothing I can do.
So, I moved a science ship into orbit, and no dice.
So, in case anyone else has this issue. Thanks to ScreamCon. You have to move your military ship right next to the Cultist Ship. Like, right next to it. They can't be orbiting, which is what the quest text says, but you have to move your military ship right next to it. Not an assault transport with a leader, or the science ship. Just a lowly military ship.
2 hours of my life wasted because a simple tutorial doesn't have the correct verbiage. If they don't want you to orbit the ship, then the quest text shouldn't say orbit. Research shouldn't be the word used in the solutions tab, because that makes people think science ship.
I'm hoping the rest of the game is not this bad. I feel like I'm playing a game where the developers have no clue what the English language is, or if they do, they didn't do well in English class.
It seems the devs made missions completable by proximity.
As far as rest of game... it shouldn't all be like that, but there definitely is a few bugs here and there. A common other one is when a fleet doesn't engage the enemy and gets slaughtered if you don't save exit. This bug can also happen to ai. Hence you always watch the battles as they unfold to make sure.
simple bugs you would expect of a higher price game not to have. Myself I think the devs need to get their heads out of their arse and focus on solving the bugs. If the engine is the problem its high time for an upgrade. Game companies are setting a bad standard by using unreliable but easy code that breaks easily resulting in fallout style bug glitch game.
