Space Amoeba Pet?

I forget the options to choose to make the Amoeba join you and grow up to be a relatively strong military asset. I tried to Google it but the wiki isn't easy to follow. Any direction would be great! Thanks!

I'm at the First Contact Investigation screen that gives me two options, "Fascinating creatures" and "We can learn to co-exist"

You have to be a pacifist or xenophile empire to pacify any space fauna, the latter option should be the one.

I believe it is an anomaly event where a baby Amoeba wants to follow your ship.

Yeah, the amoeba pet is separate from pacifying the amoebas.

Found it, thanks! Sir Crashalot was correct, it was an anomaly event, not the First Contact Investigation chain.
