Do you build frigates now?
Honest question, until battleships arrive their only use is versus star bases.

Also what is their modifiers versus them? 4 or 8 times? Where can i see that?

As I am dumb, I keep building swarm torpedo boats and artillery neutron launchers. I don't care about losses, and every frigate destroyed is at least one missed attack against another ship.

I'm not up on competitive fleet meta, but frigates are pretty squishy and lack the evasion of corvettes. My go to is a to group a mono corvette fleet and a battle ship fleet 2/3 artillery 1/3 carrier with a titan or two for auras. Frigates get chewed up so fast by the corvettes and strike craft they don't seem worth it. I haven't had a chance to play with cloaking yet though, if cloaked frigates can reliably stay out of combat until they are in torpedo range of battle ships it could be a game changer.

Frigates are like bombers. They're good against ships larger than themselves, *just enough* evasion to dodge medium and large weapons but get obliterated by corvettes and strike crafts. I've been using a few and I like them, they practically delete destroyers and cruisers. Not saying it should be a significant chunk of the force but in a fleet power of say 100, i'll have like 5 frigates.

Currently A-B testing. Half my fleets have frigates, half do not. I guess I'll see how I feel about them in the long run.

Unless the latest update changed things as I haven't tested since it dropped...they are pretty worthless to me. Well...they weren't too bad with energy torpedoes since they would not go swarming in like they do with normal torpedoes. However, by the time you have that tech researched you should at least have cruisers whch really makes them obsolete.

The strongest fleet in my testing was all cruisers with missiles and fighters. The medium slot swarmer missiles were better than the all small hard points. This fleet will loose a few more ships than an all battleship artillery fleet, but the losses cause less war score and will be much faster to build replacements.

Oh, and the bonuses are only visible on the wiki...or the game files. The torpedo weapon info screen will have a description that is cryptic about bonus damage based on the size, but nothing specific. It doesn't matter what size of hull they are shot out of.

Wiki says:
Additional multiplicative damage based on 100% of the target's ship size
2x damage against corvettes and frigates, 3x damage against destroyers, 5x damage against cruisers, 9x damage against battleships.

You sure it is´t normal damage versus corvettes, 2x destroyers, 4x cruisers and 8 times battleships? also what about titans and starbases?

That exactly is what I had infered from the not-so-cryptic in-game description, but I may have missed the "additional" word. (hence: 1+1, 1+2, 1+4, 1+8, 1+16... ?)
I'll check in-game description when I can play with the new update (and also check the files!)
used them once when i didn't have battleships to shoot the enemy battleships, worked nice.

i was specifically whittling down the pirates when they were about to activate.

since they're range is absolutely abysmal compared to.. everything else, perhaps theres a cloaked frigate swarm at jump points, but otherwise 30 range till protons is just feels bad to me.
