Question about scientist trait and role of the scientist
Hi everyone

Still learning some of the basics of this game, and i hope you can help me answer a question.

I was wondering, if i recruit a scientist for a new science ship, who has a trait regarding research, like spark of genius. Will this trait bonus apply generally, even tho my scientist is not assigned to do any research, but is instead on a science ship surveying systems ? and is the same true if i have a scientist researching technology, with a trait bonus to survey speed?

Best regards

Also, scientist specialties also increase the chances of getting techs related to the scientist doing the research, so if you're looking for a certain tech, like psionic theory, having a psionic or maniacal scientist at the correct researcher slot can help you unlock it.

Same for every other kind of tech.

Also, doing lots of exploration is a decent way to level up scientists, but don't forget you can also place science ships over worlds to boost their research too.

To answer your question, no. Some traits like spark of genius only apply to research, and survey speed traits will only apply to doing surveys.

That said, scientist have a chance of gaining new traits as they level up, and can acquire a mix of research and science ship related traits.

Also note the scientist level provides a general bonus to what ever they are doing, traits aside.
