Cosmogenesis without the lathe?
I dont want to be seen as genocidal so I feel like to not use it but I wonder if i basically shoot myself on the foot by not using it?

i think devs could make it megastructure
but they made it this way
making it megastructure require to totally re-do that, with absolutely different mechanics
no stability, no "pop decline", no planet ascension, no other things
"just put pop here" button and forget about all of them, even without ability to resettle them from it back to normal planet, like huge waste incenirator

You lose one 25% increment of the initial 175% Virtual output bonus, that's the point.

It shouldn't do so because it is a Megastructure, like a Science Nexus but using pops as fuel.
just re-read my comment
it has alsmost everything that colonies have, it is just special type of colony(habitat)
megastructures have nothing of that

No the Lathe doesn't have jobs. The pops stationed there don't get any bonuses, they only produce the "Neural Chips" mechanic based on their number.

Interesting, some bonuses apply in your game. Don't have a savegame to counter-check.

Including the Virtual Research Focus, which normally only gives +80%.
In turn, a lot of bonuses are missing. Like Curator, Gain Physics Insight and such.

are FE battleships less effective than escorts?

Battlecruisers are absolutely stunning. Two XL slots for the naval cap of a conventional Battleship...

But he means that you can mostly stay under the diplomatic radar when not going beyond T2 cosmogenesis.

The FEs also shouldn't declare war when you already have a total fleet size of something like 200k (or 300?) when progressing. They send the humiliation demand regardless.
I already have like 1M power in total from riddle escorts, the FE was pathetic and they declared war on me regardless tho
