Ship Colours Missing?
Has anybody else experienced your ships colours in game not matching your chosen flag colours? I could have sworn your ships and starbases had the same coloured lights on them that you chose as your primary flag colour, now for example when I choose light blue, a darker blue and a purpley blue, the ships always have a very light blue light to them. If I choose the darkest blue, my ships have purple lights. If I choose violet, my ships are bright red. I haven't seen this talked about so is this just a normal thing now?

It seems while they added new flag colors, they decided to not change the corresponding ship colors, or maybe it was an oversight. Have a look at the colors.txt file in Stellaris/Flags, it contains the definitions of flag/map/ship colors. You can change it there, or make a mod to change it.

i just tested on vanilla and it seems to work fine - colors aren't an exact match but primary flag color paints ship sections and governs the lights

some sets kind of do their own thing though, particularly aquatic
Every shipset, and it's without mods. The colours are not just changed, they're broken compared to before. If I picked a dark blue before this patch, my ships colours were dark blue. Now the exact same dark blue you could pick before the patch makes your ships and citadel purple. It seems to me most likely a bug but if it is, that's a ridiculous oversight.

It's not just the new colours, it's every one. If you choose violet which existed before, your ships are bright red.

I did not test them all, I just looked at the file yesterday when I noticed a difference in flag and ship color, then decided on a different shade for the flag, and the ship color matched that one, so I left it at that.
Either way you can either fix it yourself in the file I mentioned, or report it as a bug (here: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/forums/stellaris-bug-reports.941/ ) and hope the devs fix it soon.

I checked it, you can easily tell it's messed up can you not? Dark brown, brown, beige, khaki brown, ochre brown, and desert yellow all have the exact same ship colour. Many others share the same ship colour as well. This was not a thing before this patch, every flag colour had a unique corresponding ship colour. I know its quite easy to mod but i'm just surprised paradox is so incompetent as to not make the ship colours match the flag colours, old and new.

to completely fix it, i'd have to manually enter the flag colour into the ship colour (RGB) in 70+ lines. Paradox really makin me do this...

after matching the flag colours to the ship colours in the txt file, all ships now seem very dark compared to the flag colours, you can barely make out the ship colour on the selection screen that depicts your races ship, even though they're the same RGB.

Paradox seems to have really messed up these ship colours and it seems matching the RGB's doesn't actually fix it. have to wait for a patch, if paradox can even manage that...

I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed this!
My lovely golden-yellow empire is now a hideous way-too-green computer 100% yellow. If I pick a different color of yellow, or yellow-orange, it's EXACTLY the same hideous yellow in game.
The odd thing is that it shows the colors correctly in the ship appearance screen. They're just all wrong in the game itself. (Not very useful.)
Surely this is a bug, because at the moment the update has given us a new interface where we can pick dozens and dozens more colors than we had before, but in the actual game (where it matters) there's only like, FIVE or so unique colors now. Way more variety the way it was before.

PS: I really hate that horrible color computers always make pure 100% yellow. It's hideous.

the new additions aren't even the only thing bugged, like I say the old colours don't even match the ship colour now. It's really pathetic they manage to break it this much and decide to release it anyway...

I'm aware! I noticed the problem when the color I've always used no longer matched in the game. We have fewer (working) colors than we did before the update!

I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else, not even on the paradox bug report page, I hope a fix is included in the patch that comes...

I'm pretty sure this still hasn't been fixed, more than 2 years later.
Or at least, I still have this problem, not sure if its been fixed already for others.
This remains the only discussion or thread I've found mentioning this bug.

Haven't played in awhile but I think it's still there for me as well. Always baffles me how a dev group can just gloss over glaring visual bugs that seemingly should have easy fixes. If i was playing this again i might take a shot at modding it again, maybe.
