Which DLC / Expansions to get next?
I own Utopia and Leviathans. Dig both of them.

When I get paid, I'm looking to pick up a few more.

Which expansions, story packs etc would you say are at the top of your invisible tier list, that I should consider going with next? I'm gifting a friend Overlord today, so I'll be able to see what that's about in multiplayer with him, and I'll likely pick it up at a later date.

Will likely be picking up more than one, but looking for an order of priority based on your own personal preferences.

There might be a small sale when Overlord releases, so I'd say "All of them"? :D

The story packs are all good and really enhance your experience a lot, no matter what kind of empire your playing. The species packs are good too, especially aquatics. The big dlcs vary in quality (for example Nemesis isn't really that good right now and I wouldn't get it at full price).

Federation for the origins and different kinds of alliances
Distant Stars for the L cluster.

What's the take on Apocalypse?

The big draw of that seems to be the Marauders, the Planet-busting weapons and capital ships, which I'm 100% on board with. Both Federations are higher on my list of priority at the moment.

Refer to the hundreds of other threads about this.

But if you want to know about Apocalypse you've got it mostly nailed down, in addition to a few civics and APs if you want to abduct pops and/or roleplay as space barbarians, and also a few mediocre origins.

Apocalypse includes the Great Khan, right? Then this is excellent for more midgame content.

Apocalypse in my opinion is a good B tier DLC, the most useful thing to a lot of players would be the CB that comes with the Planet killing perk. Titans are nice and can be useful in battle. The mercenary raiders don't get used enough in my games, but they can still provide a decent challenge if the midgame crisis triggers.

Overall right now it would be #3 on my big DLC list (right after Federations and right before Megacorp), although I think with the newest expansion coming out, out might become #4.

If you need a lot of DLC you can check out the starter pack, it would give you a bigger discount, and includes Apocalypse.

Well, as have been said, Federations is the next one you should get. You seem to like what Apocalypse brings so that's good too. Overlord is bringing some megastructures and whatnot, seems it'll be a good one. Then its a matter of taste; if you like making friends and playing tall, megacorp is really fun. If u want to play as robots then ofc synthetic dawn, etc.

Ancient Relics is fun. It adds things to the start of the game.

Also don't forget to get the *FREE* anniversary portraits. There's some fun critters in there.

I'd say Apocalypse or Federations for gameplay (depending of what content suits you best) and then Distant Stars for the story fluff.

Hmm, my personal priority list looks roughly like this: Utopia, Apocalypse, Synthetic Dawn, Ancient Relics, MegaCorp, Lithoids, Federations, Plantoids, Necroids, Aquatics, Leviathans, Humanoids, Nemesis, Distant Stars.

I don't care much about marauders. They are either not a factor to think about or annoying. I guess the khan can be a fun challenge, but I prefer to fight enemies that use resources to build their fleets, not spawn them because RNG said so.
I would not want to miss the Titan and Colossus in my fleets though, so this is a must have DLC for me.

Federations also adds a big ship, the Juggernaut, Which is not really a battle ship, more a mobile shipyard, but I like to have one anyways (it looks cool). Also in Federations: The Mega Shipyard. Do you like to have fleets? Then you will like this one.
I am not the federation building type, but if I was, I would want to have the additional federation options that come with this DLC as well.

Cheers for the take.

They just went on sale, here's hoping that sale sticks around until I get paid in just under two weeks. Then I'll pick up both there and then, along with Distant Stats and Synthetic Dawn most likely.

If it goes off sale before then, is what it is.
