The story packs are all good and really enhance your experience a lot, no matter what kind of empire your playing. The species packs are good too, especially aquatics. The big dlcs vary in quality (for example Nemesis isn't really that good right now and I wouldn't get it at full price).
Distant Stars for the L cluster.
The big draw of that seems to be the Marauders, the Planet-busting weapons and capital ships, which I'm 100% on board with. Both Federations are higher on my list of priority at the moment.
But if you want to know about Apocalypse you've got it mostly nailed down, in addition to a few civics and APs if you want to abduct pops and/or roleplay as space barbarians, and also a few mediocre origins.
Apocalypse includes the Great Khan, right? Then this is excellent for more midgame content.
Overall right now it would be #3 on my big DLC list (right after Federations and right before Megacorp), although I think with the newest expansion coming out, out might become #4.
If you need a lot of DLC you can check out the starter pack, it would give you a bigger discount, and includes Apocalypse.
I don't care much about marauders. They are either not a factor to think about or annoying. I guess the khan can be a fun challenge, but I prefer to fight enemies that use resources to build their fleets, not spawn them because RNG said so.
I would not want to miss the Titan and Colossus in my fleets though, so this is a must have DLC for me.
Federations also adds a big ship, the Juggernaut, Which is not really a battle ship, more a mobile shipyard, but I like to have one anyways (it looks cool). Also in Federations: The Mega Shipyard. Do you like to have fleets? Then you will like this one.
I am not the federation building type, but if I was, I would want to have the additional federation options that come with this DLC as well.
They just went on sale, here's hoping that sale sticks around until I get paid in just under two weeks. Then I'll pick up both there and then, along with Distant Stats and Synthetic Dawn most likely.
If it goes off sale before then, is what it is.
Week long then.
I get paid on the 24th, no biggie though, is what it is.
