Best/easiest "standard" class/species for a beginner?
Hello,
doesn't matter if it's DLC or just base, what would you consider a really easy and OP species for a first playthrough? So I have not too much to worry about to learn some mechanics on the get go?

I think humans with xenophile ethics is a good choice for a beginner. If you choose Scion as your origin you also get sugar daddy aka fallen empire as your ally. Good way to learn the game mechanics and just enjoy building your space empire.

Synths, because no factions and you could mostly ignore one ressource completly: food.
But just my opinion
Gestalt Conciousness.
They completely ignore happiness, consumer goods, and domestic politics, with only minor trade offs in planetary stability and amendities.

I'd say it's best to start with a standard organic empire, so that you don't pick up untenable habits from gestalt/machine empire gameplay. You'll want to get used to setting space aside for things like consumer goods and food before you start playing without them. I guess it's like learning to drive: if you learn with an automatic gear-shift, you won't be able to drive a manual, but if you learn with a manual, you'll be able to drive both.
Would say the United Nations of Earth is a good preset option. There's a reason that a lot of tutorial videos use them. They're a decent enough start without any huge maluses.
