corporate protectorate worth it?
love playing megacorp but I never took that civic cuz of 100% empire size on branch offices like whats the point

i am not playing megacorp, and i don't know how big is your emprie size from branch offices usually in lategame
but for common empires size from pops usually lategame MUCH bigger than any other source of empire size

No, the penalties are nasty.
Issues with placing arc furnaces, dyson swarms, and megastructures.

lategame I can have like 50+ branch offices which means +100 empire size, but yea it really depends on the galaxy size

Seems pointless to me outside of roleplaying as a "tall defensive" empire (or in meta terms, sitting on your laurels and staying weak). The Edict is trash, the Unity from Soldiers is pretty irrelevant unless you're spamming Fortress worlds for some reason (a couple on major choke points are useful, putting them everywhere not so much), the starbase building looks not bad but rather underwhelming. Stronger planetary defense armies might be useful situationally, but it implies you're getting invaded in the first place. And the diplomatic weight would most likely just pretend to compensate for the fact that you'd feel pressured to stay smaller due to the other penalties.

just checked my save and its 132 from branch offices
from pops is 500 (with reduction of course) but i assume with guardianship it nullifies them no

While "Corporate Protectorate" increases empire size from planets, branch offices & systems, it reduces empire size from pops and districts.

Late game most of your empire size tends to be pops, so you may gain a larger benefit then the penalty.

With the civic it splits the empire size from pops by half (-50% empire size from pops), thus reducing the empire size by 250.

The addition to branch offices is another 132 (+100% empire size from branch offices).

250 - 132 = 118.

So if that is all we take into consideration (there are some other empire size modifiers on the civic we are ignoring here) then its a reduction of 118 to empire size from taking the civic in this scenario (very beneficial).

you've wrote that it is 500 ES from pops already with reduction
if that is reduction from harmony/domination/psionic theory/pacifist, that scales better way, giving more than 250 reduction
for better calculation, which if them you have?

I mean like i saw many ppl nullifies empire size from pops with this civic, but idk about the corporate version, say isnt there an additional penalty added to empire size beyond 100 with this civic?

I assumed it was without the civic, might be wrong though.

Anyway nothing is preventing the player from adding harmony/domination/psionic theory/pacifist on top of the -50% from the civic :P

nothing additional
i think there is fixed minimal number for total ES(50 or 100, not sure), but ES from anything, like planets or pops can still be nullified
