What is Advanced Logic for?

Built my Lathe finally and to my surprise Machine pops work in it just fine. I was wondering tho - You get the option for producing Advanced Logic instead of normal Research. Other than advancing your Crisis Rating what good is it?

Raising you crisis rating is exactly what it is for. If you don't really care how fast you progress, then I usually just leave it producing science, since research also increases you crisis rating (though at a slower speed). But if your goal is to end the game fast, then the faster crisis progression really helps.

I feel that it would primarily be used as such in a multiplayer game where other players specifically target crisis players.
