I could try a game with several templates and see what happens to me, ill call back
That's not the same issue, OPs one is different
Virtual is in general kinda buggy... When i took it the first time i didnt realize you had to delete your planets BEFORE you take the tradition, so i ended up with -75% production and no ability to abandon my colonies
But at the same time i didnt get any unity so i could never progress in the traditions. I ended up deleting all jobs on the planets i didnt want, and just waited YEARS with 1 unemployed pop on each colony
Then i guess these virtual pops tried to migrate to my other planets, because suddenly i started losing those 1 pop colonies. But it was pure chance, took like 15 years to lose enough planets to stabilize the economy
Just a slight tip: You can relocae people from your worlds. The last one will cost some influence, but will result in the planet to get uncolonized.
But yeah, you are totally right about the resettlement thing. Forgot it already activated on adoption, not as a finisher .... (that was about pops no longer become refugeed)
But yeah, the penalty one is one of the first two nodes, and you need it to proceed to the third node. (the other node also increased empire size from colonies by 100%)
Generally, going virtual needs way more planning than any other trees (though Nanites also changes how you play quite a bit)
Yes i know. But you cant resettle virtual pops so if you took the tradition for the first time you get kinda fisted
So i turned virtual right now - the first thing i noticed is that the trait "virtual" itself gets enhanced if you pick the top left tradition. Since the game doesnt allow to add/delete special modifications you cannot use an "old" template that you created before you took that tradition.

All of your species USUALLY turn virtual - i havent specifically tested now what happens if your species 50/50 uses different templates before virtualisation, it's a bit annoying to test since you automatically pick the tradition once the situation is finished to you kinda have to rush "Robomodding" to do that.
And the thing is: If you colonized a planet before you turned/enhanced virtual, the planet will have pops with the template that you sent to colonize. Hence the "usually"
So in case of the pic i now have 3 templates, but i can only switch the bottom 2 with each other since these ones have the "old" virtual trait. My main population has the "enhanced" virtual trait.
