Virtual pops can't be modify to better version - bug
I have the situation that after I get virtual pops, 2/3 of them have previous build and I want upgrade them to better version with exist but for some reason, I can't change them to better version, as the game state: "This trait can't be deleted: Virtual /This trait can't be deleted forever/ You can't use this template". I was have 2 templates before Virtualization, and after that the first tamplate can't be modify to second one and vice versa. What is strange to me that I can make third one with the same settings as second one and this allow me to modify them.
Somebody know why this happen?

Another thing I find out and maybe this is a problem, why I can't change them back then. Both template has Virtual, but one has bonus for production minus per colony and second template don't have it.

I have the same problem

The problem is probably caused by having multiple templates before going virtual, at least thats my guess.

I could try a game with several templates and see what happens to me, ill call back

That's not the same issue, OPs one is different

Virtual is in general kinda buggy... When i took it the first time i didnt realize you had to delete your planets BEFORE you take the tradition, so i ended up with -75% production and no ability to abandon my colonies

But at the same time i didnt get any unity so i could never progress in the traditions. I ended up deleting all jobs on the planets i didnt want, and just waited YEARS with 1 unemployed pop on each colony

Then i guess these virtual pops tried to migrate to my other planets, because suddenly i started losing those 1 pop colonies. But it was pure chance, took like 15 years to lose enough planets to stabilize the economy

The strange thing that solve my problem was.... Assimilation my own virtual pops. For some reason, after I choose assimilation, they change to main species with all bonuses from virtual tree

I mean, there is the server shutdown ability somwhere in the tradition tree, but yeah, it can be debilitating to have too many planets and skilling the tradition as you go (it is one of the few traditions where you really want the finisher effect, while the tradition progress can be a mixed bag. So I often wait until I progress it until I get enough unity)

Just a slight tip: You can relocae people from your worlds. The last one will cost some influence, but will result in the planet to get uncolonized.
Ye but that decision is only available after you finish the tradition tree, while you get the owned colony penalty at adoption, and not able to resettle virtual pops.

nah, the colony penalty is one of the nodes you skill. Its the one that gives +175% pop output (-25% per owned colony) -> if you have 11 colonioes, thats 100+175 - 11*25 = 275 - 275 = '0' (there is a minimal output that you can't get under).
But yeah, you are totally right about the resettlement thing. Forgot it already activated on adoption, not as a finisher .... (that was about pops no longer become refugeed)

But yeah, the penalty one is one of the first two nodes, and you need it to proceed to the third node. (the other node also increased empire size from colonies by 100%)

Generally, going virtual needs way more planning than any other trees (though Nanites also changes how you play quite a bit)

Yes i know. But you cant resettle virtual pops so if you took the tradition for the first time you get kinda fisted

So i turned virtual right now - the first thing i noticed is that the trait "virtual" itself gets enhanced if you pick the top left tradition. Since the game doesnt allow to add/delete special modifications you cannot use an "old" template that you created before you took that tradition.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3459595380

All of your species USUALLY turn virtual - i havent specifically tested now what happens if your species 50/50 uses different templates before virtualisation, it's a bit annoying to test since you automatically pick the tradition once the situation is finished to you kinda have to rush "Robomodding" to do that.

And the thing is: If you colonized a planet before you turned/enhanced virtual, the planet will have pops with the template that you sent to colonize. Hence the "usually"

So in case of the pic i now have 3 templates, but i can only switch the bottom 2 with each other since these ones have the "old" virtual trait. My main population has the "enhanced" virtual trait.

I think that's where assimilation of the old templates serves as the fix.
