just wanted to know if the base edition would be enough, or you actually need dlcs to make the game feel "complete" ?

Yes. The base game without any DLCS or Mods is worthy of buying. Be warned though, if you end up liking the game you will pay for it and them some. The subscription option would be better for new players, thats if you have time to throw some hundreds of hours into playing the game while you have the subscription.

The DLC that usually gets recommended to start off with (at least with what I've been told) are Leviathans, Utopia, Apocalypse, and maybe Megacorp and Synthetic Dawn if you're interested in those playstyles. Everything else is much more dependent on your preferences, though the same could be said for all the DLC in that sense.

get the subscription on the games steam store page for 10 bucks for a month. thats seriously good value i dont think its been around long either since iv had my eye on this game for a few years.

Additional buildings (megastructures), some ascension perks, Hive Mind government, Purge and slavery, pre-ftl species interaction and some civics. At least thats what being listed but a lot of DLC stuff is baked into the base game too and I assume that partly applies to Utopia too.

IMHO, just get the game vanilla. At least until you know what that means.

Base game especially on sale is worth buying, always try to get your DLC when they are on sale either publisher, spring, summer, or black friday all you have to do is wait.

The mod community for the game is very extensive.
