Nanite swarmer
Question to the experts, "nanite swarmer" trash? I can't figure out what needs to be done to make them useful. Who has already figured it out help pls.

Also, it's in the name, you want a swarm of them, they're glass canon and will pretty much die in 1 shot, but the enemy can only kill so many at once, so you want to overwhelm them with numbers :)

Have a look at their upkeep cost: It's 0. So you can have as many as you want.

thanks for the answers, I also found out that a nanite collector can produce 100-150 nanites per system, and an arc furnace doubles this, and several such systems can be built. And I get 200 swarmers every 5 years

correction, 532 swarmer are spawned every 5 years

Yeah so basically nanites are extremely good but you have to be really patient and you HAVE to build wide. it ends up being insanely scary down the road but it takes awhile

They do however still take 1 fleet cap per swarmer.
So unless you go 'swarmers only' is gonna raise cost of maintenance for other ships.

Sadly, I feel them underwhelming even in big swarms as later on they die to single hit of anything harder - and disbanding them or throwing them at random systems is just a hassle (and wasted CPU).

Genius Armor commander destiny trait when on council giving a flat +100 Shield and +100 armor and 20% shield and armor hardening to all your ships

That could help them at least survive slightly better against small/medium sized weapons (still likely won't help much if at all against larger weapons though)

Make them throw torps or Hanger so they stay far back, and have other normal ships tangle with the AI might help them last longer. Numbers though seem to be the trick.

With an upkeep of zero, you can keep building them forever and stash them somewhere. Them just existing makes you look big and scary and basically puff up your diplo power.

It would be nice if you could turn the small ones into the big nanite ships the L-gate stuff spawns/has, maybe at a 10 or 100 to one ratio you know, that or not make them cost fleet points lol

How do you get the nanites?

Nanite Collector, a space station facility that creates 0.1 nanite deposits on planets where their extraction is available (there is a list in the game). and then every 5 years the deposit increases until it reaches a maximum, depending on the size of the planet. And all this can be doubled by an arc furnace and mining technologies. A well-chosen system can produce about 300 nanites in total.

The astro Mining drone civic can give you a 200% output boost to the nanite deposits.

at some point you want to switch into it.

You will be swimming in nanites.

My home system as an Arc Welder was producing over 700 nanites, but yeah its crazy :P

And that does Matter how Exactly? You go 300+ Fleet Cap in aroung 50-80 years, depending on your Nation, Tech Luck and so on..... After around 100 years you Produce so much Ressources with Machines, that you an go over that 300 Cap 3 to 4 Times easylie.

So Yeah you send in a Main Fleet, which is basicly Build for Tanking, and behind that 4-6 Fleets of Swarmers......

How that is "Underwhelming" i will never Understand.
They Only Comparison this might not stand in Terms of Pure "Numbers" of Ships, might be the Menace Crisis, which basicly is its whole Point. To Crank out even more Fleets. Since new Arcfurnace and all that Stuff, will Help them as much as anyone else.
