DLC steam key question
does anyone know if the website "instant gaming" is trustworthy to buy some of stellaris DLCs, cause the prices seem too good to be true. I did google some stuff about them, most people had good experiences buying other games but i just want to make sure nothing backfires if i buy some DLCs

It’s not an officially authorized seller, but will anything bad happen - probably not.

Authorized key sellers should never have prices that are "too good to be true" without a special sale going on (usually coinciding with an equivalent Steam sale). An authorized key seller will ususally save you like 10% on a regular day.

"Too good to be true" means something fishy is going on, is liable to get your key revoked by Steam, and worst of all, doesn't support the devs. May as well just pirate the game at that point, if you're only going to be supporting nefarious third parties, and not the actual developer (of course, you shouldn't actually do that).

The best way to check for authorized sellers is to check IsThereAnyDeal, as they don't promote grey market sites.

The prices in question aren't even, in some cases, cheaper than some current legit sellers right now, or in general substantially better than the legit sellers during sales.
During those sales, the legit sellers will have basically the same prices (give or take 1$) with 0 risk.
The only pro is that you can get sales-like prices for some... outside of a sale.

i don't remenber having trouble with IG, just bought Warhammer rogue trader on this site, it's not that the price are always good, but sometimes it's fair enough, even with TVA

You'll "generally" not have issues with the unauthorised or open market sites (otherwise they wouldn't still exist), but there's usually a comparable, if not better (especially if a steam sale is happening at the same time), price on an authorised store so why even take the risk of a revoked key and having to deal with a refund, for saving an extra couple of bucks.

It's a valid seller listed on isthereanydeal and I've also bought some games from them before and it was fine.

Edit: wrong about the first part

I bought Stellaris and 12 of its DLCs on Instant Gaming. All keys were instantly delivered and worked. That was 4 years ago though, when Instant Gaming was like 70% cheaper than Steam. These days Instant Gaming is only 10 - 50% cheaper, so you could as well wait for the next Steam sale. If you care about Steam points, i recommend buying on Steam.
