Question about virtual pops
The virtuality tree states that colonies lost to non-virtual empires will have all virtual pops removed. Does that mean virtuality pops simply cannot survive on planets outside of your empire, or can they migrate to other empires? would the empires get the full effect of the automatic pop creation or do they just act like regular pops? Thanks in advance.

virtual pops cannot be taken or migrate, they only exist for the virtual empire.

I've signed some migration treaties just now (no machines, i'm the only machine empire) and the species screen states that my species exists in total on 4 planets now, despite me only owning 3. So it seems they can migrate although I'm not certain what happens after...

Since the automatic formation of virtual pops is tied to the last point of the virtuality tradition tree, it's possible they just get "regular" virtual pops. That is - the pops have the virtual trait which comes with reduced housing usage, etc., but not the extended effects of having the true virtuality tradition finished like the bonus output depending on number of colonies.
Are you a gestalt machine empire, or individualist machine empire?

Individualist, since gestalts can't really do migration treaties.
