Virtuality tradition unplayable ?
In a machines run i'm usually low in energy credits but it's compensated thanks to a great excess in minerals.
I tried to pick the Clustered Capacity form Virtuality and the +0.1 Energy pop upkeep per colony cost way much than it's upside, and I end up with -600 energy per month :angry_creep:

Virtuality is broken, single handedly the most extremely overpowered tradition in the game.
If that is unplayable for you.. omg. :cozycastondeath:

Anyway you have to play that with 3-6 colonies.

That tradition is for playing tall, as in you need to limit yourself to 6 or 7 colonies max. Anything more than that, and you'd be better off not taking it :)

I guess I'm playing wrong then.

Virtuality is the most broken ascension in the game.

Absolutely wrong. Remember clerks increase pop resource output, which compensates debuff from colonies up to a certain extent (DON'T OVERCOLONIZE) and planet ascension increases district limit. So take mercantile trait, make huge planets (either max out your habitats if you play voidwellers, or turn anything you can into ecumenopolis + mastery of nature), vassalize anyone you can vassalize after your huge boost in power from ascending.

virtuality is one of the few mechanics that make clerk viable (otherwise clerks are trash)

With Virtuality, you start with a +175% bonus and you get -25% debuff per colony. You have 10, so, instead of playing with a bonus, you're playing with a -75% debuff :/

I just ran into the same issue. I picked Clustered Capacity with too many colonies. I thought that I could just abandon colonies, but alas this promised "Shutting down the server" decision is not available until I finished the Virtuality tree, which makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

I can't shut down the server, I can't resettle virtual pops, I can't abandon colonies, I am literally trapped in this massive debuf. It's infuriating...

I guess it's time to start anew...

Yeah, it's a bit odd to get that penalty without being able to get rid of the pops yet.
ZockerRabbit Sep 30, 2024 @ 11:54am
Even if I knew I should've gotton rid of colonies before picking virtuality, I might run into the situation where I gain colonies by conquering other empires and then I get trapped again...

What's the point of all that? Why can't we shut down the servers if the pop is already virtual?
Elitewrecker PT Sep 30, 2024 @ 11:56am
Don't conquer other empires before you finish the tradition XD

Bah, colossus perk.

Considering how many colonies you have and that virtuality is all about getting massive buffs from playing tall (Having just a few worlds) with a stacking debuff for having a lot of colonies.

Yes, you are playing that ascension path wrong (Or at least "not as intended", you can likely get a virtual empire to work wide, but it will have a few issues to solve).

That said, if energy credits is the main issue with that large empire then i would suggest shifting over to trade income rather then generator districts, since trade isn't effected by the debuff and can be used to generate energy credits.
