The Habitable One Again..... :o)
Hi all....sorry to bang on about this again....

As long as I have had a research ship go into the system first and survey all the planets, they will not then let me survey it again for the mission....whether I try right-click or the other way. So do I have to somehow send another research ship in first every time I go into a different un-surveyed system.....I am probably making absolutely no sense whatsoever...LOL!!!

Doin' my little peanut head in.....!

(and yep, I have tried to Google the answer..... hee!)

Do you mean the habitable planet survey mission?

That requires you to survey new habitable planets. ie. 8 new ones that you haven't already surveyed.

That's the one Kapika96, that's the one! But this is the thing I don't get - how does that work then? How do I know a planet is habitable until I survey it? And then once it's surveyed it won't let me do it..!!! I know I am being a total dumba@@, which I am totally fine with, I just wish I knew what I was being a dumba@@ about....!!!
Habitable worlds in a system that are unsurveyed will show an orange icon next to their name. Once surveyed the icon changes green/yellow/red depending on how habitable it is for your species.

Ah, now we're talking..! That is what I couldn't get my head around, how the hell would I know? Another quickie though (oooooh missus...!) if you don't mind....? What is the best kind of way to approach it - let a RS go in first, slowly, keeping an eye on it -or is really obvious when one comes up. Obviously I have seen habitable planets before, but only as the RS is doing it's thing - surveying I mean......

And is it right - there really is nothing on a mining ship that gives you any mining stats at all - that seems such an oversight I almost think they did it purposely..! Is it anywhere?

Thanks in advance, your help is very much appreciated....
Best way to get the habitable worlds survey quest done is not to focus too much on it. The icon is obvious, if a science ship detects a habitable world the icon will show next to the system name in the galaxy view and habitable worlds look mostly different to any other type (they all have visible atmospheres).

Upgrading your sensor tech will reveal habitable worlds in neighbouring systems too.

Mining station base output should be shown below the body they are orbiting.

The quest works like this: Just continue to survey everything. You will want to do that anyways. Once you find enough habitable planets, you fulfill it. There is nothing you can actively do since, as you said yourself, you don't know in advance where they are. As Khan above said, don't focus on that quest, you will get it automatically. Just send your scouts from system to system and let them survey everything.

This mission requires literally nothing on your end. Assuming you have at least one research ship exploring unsurveyed systems.

It is possible that this mission only starts when there is nothing left to explore, then you simply can't complete it.

YESSSS!! Finally! Well, I haven't actually done a lot, but yep, there it is, a big orange blob, a habitable planet to survey alone, so I have just sent my RS (by using the right-mouse click...yay!!) to survey the little bugger. I have been playing solid since last night - no sleep at all.

Once again - many thanks for your help, always appreciated - no doubt I will be soon back. To be honest, Stellaris does a MUCH MUCH better job of easing in a noob, especially when you compare it to something like EU4.....

Cheers......

EDIT - I DID IT, I DID IT....very satisfying indeed....
