Stellaris Long Term Multiplayer (ala Supremecy 1914)
Is there any way to slow the passage of time in a multiplayer game so that it is similar to Supremacy 1914?

For example, in Supremacy 1914 games take place over a couple of days, weeks, or months. Orders and decisions take time to carry out, which can number to hours or days in game.

"Thats disgusting!" you say, "Why would anyone want that?"

Well, Stellaris multiplayer takes time, and it is exceedingly difficult to get everyone together for extended periods. Instead of everyone having to binge, people would be able to log on whenever and make/change their decisions and orders. For example, getting across a solar system could take one hour (maybe less or more) in game. This means a continuous game is happening, but slow enough to the point where people don't have to all be there at the same time.

It works well with Supremacy, and I think it would work well with Stellaris as well.

What you are looking for is not an option in Stellaris. You can slow the passage of time by turning down the game speed, but there is no option to have a game running on a server that you log into occasionally to issue orders. If you leave a game of Stellaris the computer will take over playing your empire, and any orders you have issues may be changed.

The closest you could get would be to turn the speed down to the slowest possible, and then have players leave Stellaris running while doing other things. You would then occasionally return to Stellaris and issue orders. That experience would probably be fairly different than what you are looking for, however.

I wonder how difficult this would be to mod in? Whats the slowest possible game speed? If I could simply remove the auto AI takeover, this could work.

Leave the host computer running the game. Players can join and leave as they wish, as the AI take over is disabled. I may need to slow down the game even more depending on the minimum speed settings, but those are the only obstacles I can forsee right now.
I don't have any experience modding Stellaris, so I don't know whether it is possible or how difficult it would be. Blocking the game from having an AI take over would probably be the big hurdle, because the mechanism for that may not have been made available for modding. That's something you'd need to research if you wanted to pursue this.

The slowest speed available is called "Slowest", and is about 3 seconds per day (measured by counting in my head, so take this for the very rough estimate that it is). So 1.5 minutes per month and 18 minutes per year. One day of real time would be 80 years of game time, and a game running constantly would end on the fourth day using the default setting for game length. If you wanted the game to potentially last months you'd need to find a way to make the pace slower.

Ok, awesome. I'll definitely look into it. Thanks for the info!

Why Stellaris is not a Game where there is a big galaxy with billions of stars and all players are playing in that map.
