How do I break a non aggression pact?
I've had a non-aggression pact with my opponents for decades. I want to resume our hostilities, but I can't figure out how. In the contact menu, I can't declare war because of the pact, and I have literally searched every menu for the option to break the pact, and can't find anything. Where is it?

Open contact with the empire you want to break relations with, then click "Break non-agression pact".

That's the thing, there is no option for that

Are you using a mod?

apart from planetary diversity and some name generators, no

2.7 broke some mods, which in turn break the game.

I would check if those mods are breaking something and whether they've been updated to 2.7.1.

Checked, and they all have been updated. Noone reported that kind of bug..

is there a console command to break the pact? I've tried looking for one, found one to declare war, but now I'm at war with them... while they have closed borders on me. So we can fight, but I can't invade

are you sure you're in a defensive pact with them?. also, if you declared war but didn't unpause for a day then it'll show that borders are still closed since the status of borders won't update until the day ticks over

No, I'm not in a defensive pact. Just the non-aggression (which is still enabled after forcing war via command).

And I've left it running for almost a year now and borders are still closed. Curiously, my oppnent can come into my borders no issue whatsoever...

Well, it tunrs out, they were vassals of another empire I had a non aggression pact with, and I had to break it with them in order to declare war on their vassal.

Happy that I solved it, but makes me wonder why the tooltip didn't specify it was SOMEONE ELSE I had to break the pact with

some agreements can't be broken until time limits run out, like peace treaties
because apparently a eternally hungry hive swarm that thinks only of feeding can't do backsies on peace treaty apparently
