Are you seriously doing this?

What are you talking about? The base game has always been 40$ USD since it's release.

All the Paradox games I can see on the store have the same base price they have always had for me. Except CKII of course which went free to play.

you mean the regional price? It's not just paradox, valve itself has increased the recommended regional prices of many regions compared to the US dollar so paradox is just matching with them. Sad really

If thats the case then ya, Paradox is basically matching it to the regional price.

https://steamdb.info/app/281990/

That said however, any price change differences compared to the 39.99 US has not changed much, a few nations sure, changed (for example a good majority of the European nations have gone up on January 17th) but compared to the USD and the more expensive prices above it, they are all still cheaper then the USD game.

I knew some places got hit hard, especially like Turkey where I heard their goverment changed some laws to make games effectively impossible to buy (Almost in some cases, some games have gone up by 350% in price, basically in Turkey what we would pay out for 40$ in the US, for Turkey is about a week paycheck...)

Regional price increases are to be blamed on individual government being completely unable to manage their economy and their currency in any sensible way. Case in point Turkey and Argentina where inflation runs rampant.

Yeah I wanted to say it was regional prices, they increased in all countries that don't use European, American and Canadian currency. I was intending to buy some remaining dlcs but I'm not even going to spend my money on that anymore. I've already decided not to buy any more Paradox games.

Supply, demand, legitimate desire for profit and value of the currency. If they price themselves out of the market, they'll lower the price. If people are buying at the higher price, they'll keep selling it at the higher price.

St. Augustine once said - no joke - that all men desire, besides happiness, to buy low and sell high. Can't argue that.

yeah man it's sad, my country's currency devalued by 10% if compared to USD since the game's release, but they freaking tripled the price of the game, not thinking about the buying power of people here.

Should be noted that its said that Valve has been kinda... infrequent... when it comes to updating their regional pricing recommendations in the past.

From what i have read (so basically a rumor, take it with a pinch of salt) they (relatively) recently updated them for the first time in 10+ years. If there is any truth in that then whatever system they use for the regional price recommendations was already out of date at the games release.

It seems like they might have upgraded the system to be way more fluid and update constantly. But that is just a assumption based on the fact that regional prices seem to change frequently now.

It's them changing the price outside of the U.S

Americans don't see it, But yeah the price has absolutely increased for all their games. Crusader Kings lll should never cost that much for how little effort it's been compared to Ckll.

Just another case of Steam L, They put way too much trust in these companies and that trust is being abused.

Dragons dogma ll prime example, Americans pay 79$ while Canadians are paying 130$ for Deluxe. Some europeans are paying 300 USD aswell. Regional pricing is a joke, It should be THE SAME across the board. 1;1 conversion not extortion if you live in another part of the world.

And yeah, Canadian is monopoly money now thanks to Trudaeu but 79 / 89$ does not convert even remotely near 130$. More like 100$ for deluxe 90 for standard.

1st example 79$USD is 99.54 via current exchange rate so ripping us off eh steam
and last i checked yup canada is a democracy there is no such govt type as a monopoly LOL
you trumpers are daft as beans
cant even tell its steam ripping you off
and no european pays 300USD for a 79USD game ...ever
unless your a russian using 50 methods to get round some block that costs you money

"Monopoly money" is an American idiom. It refers to the play money that comes with the board game, "Monopoly." It's kind of a short hand way to describe money that's worth less than the paper it's printed on.

in any case I'd just be blunt, piracy of games and software in general is rampant here, and the ones who want to actually buy the game is already detered by the numbers of dlc, let alone the price, valve maybe is the one who suggest the price but paradox is the one who set it in the end, I myself had happily bought the game and the dlc till nemesis, when I came back the price has doubled, and now it's tripled, I have lost hope of buying more dlcs no matter how much I love the game. right now the price of all dlc has surpassed the monthly minimum wage of my region. its insane if u think changing the price to match the US is fair
