Fact of the matter is that the primary demographic of this game is not the same as the one you are in. Most people don't have the temperament or *time* to "git gud" and sweat out a meta-rush PUG game every other day.
look how many people on this thread are making excuses for refusing to play an element of the game like multiplayer. i enjoy both SP and MP, this community really is weird. kina have to agree with OP, you guys seem scared
Additionally, its hard to play in open lobbies because this game still has a TON of bugs that you cant trust rando's to not exploit. Things like doing archaeology sights without a scientist, abusable mechanics involving rapidly dividing and merging fleets. (You need a macro to do it at the speed you need to get the bug to trigger now, so at-least there is that....) Its just not a viable game in terms of balance or bugs when playing with randoms.
