Their customers are paying THEM for the privilege of working FOR THEM, FOR FREE.... nope not interested.
My main gripe around that time was when they incorporated the Torpedo Frigate. The Frigate on my game couldn't equip the very TORPEDO it was supposed to carry. I mean first day patch release and the very BIG THING they released didnt actually work.... I think a in-house play-tester would have discovered that on what, their FIRST play through.... but no it took several reports from their CUSTOMERS to get it fixed..... ridiculous
I like the game, but I will not be used. Its akin to slavery.
I'd say.... none of their DLC is worth it, when you properly dissect what you are getting for your buck. There are a few community contributors on YT who will offer information/insight videos on their opinion of whether a DLC is worth it.... most usually say, nope.
Ultimately its your call. Don't let the Fanboys give you false opinions because they want you to invest in their favourite game, so the developer will continue to 'use' you as above.
If you have friends who play the game, and they have any DLC, if they host, you get access to their DLC content.
The newest one with all the negative reviews is obviously the worst.
When you have over 1.5k hours clocked and understand what Stellaris is all about, it is a no-brainer for me to grab all the DLC.
3600 hours played..... i think I have seen enough to decide if its a no brainer
But when players don't buy DLC's while playing the game a lot and incite others to do the same, not only it is hypocritical, but also counterproductive to the game's continued development.
Believe me, I want this game to thrive, but I also demand quality for my money spent. And since the DLC before Nemesis (which I cannot remember the name of) the quality has gone down hill.
I my opinion since developers like Hello Games got away with their full price unfinished No Man's Sky, and the controversy which followed, which includes Bethesda's Fallout 76 and I imagine many more titles, that quality I seek has nosedived off a cliff. I've seen DLC after DLC launch with issues on day one a simply play tester would have picked up, but they cannot pick such things up, if they don't hire them. Paradox and other developers release content like its an Early Access title, its not, its full release and all DLC should be fully finished and there shouldn't be masses of bugs and other simiilar issues on day one, that are game breaking as you would find in an Early Access title.
As long as Paradox continue to release content in this way, I will not support them. Until the community, starting with the Fanboys, takes a stand and forces Paradox to release quality content each release, they will never change and sadly, neither will my opinion of their development of this franchise.
And I have not seen any gamebreaking bugs in all of my playtime, except for the occasional engaged fleet not shooting one, which I haven't seen for a while now as well.
Then in your 1500 hours, you've not been paying attention to the game..... lets see if your attitude/perception changes after 3600 hours played.
The DLC content, for each expansion is hardcoded into the 'free release' for that version, The AI has access to everything in the DLC whether you own is as a player or not. The AI is capable of using elements of that DLC content you don't have access to.
For example
I do not own the expansion that permits cloaked ships. But yet I have seen AI controlled Fleets, detected by AI controlled empires which I have sensor pacts with from being a vassal or ally in war, and when hovering over that AI controlled fleet icon, the game tells me that the fleet is CLOAKED.
I have had the entire Galactic Community declare me as the Crisis and declare war on me... I don't own Nemesis which permits me to be the Crisis.
No you don't, but you must own the DLC, to be able to suggest it, to the Galactic Community as a player
I have them all and I have paid the full price on most of them because I am supporting keeping IMO the only decent 4x space empire game around.
Stellaris DLC they all have the positives and negatives. Its all a matter of personal preference as to whether you like a DLC or not.
There are far more people not complaining about everything,
Stellaris is a game that is still evolving and there will be further changes to game play, so if you are sensitive to the game being modified, probably should avoid it.
