Noob question: Board Cultist Ship
Ok so i just started playing this game, I have been trying to figure out for the last hour how to do the first step in 'board the cultist ship'. It says "has military ships in orbit", I don't know if that is a requirement, or if that is just a status, but it's in red.... I click on my corvettes in the system, there is no option to 'orbit' anything, if I click attack then click the cultist nothing happens.

I read somewhere about building a transport to do the boarding. I have no idea how to do that as it's not an option yet from the starport.

There is a 'research' button, which seems to indicate some kind of science mission, I have a science vessel in the system but I don't know what to do with it...

Like literally what do I click on or do to attack, board, research or whatever the game wants me to do for this thing?

I've had that frustration before. Some special projects can only be "researched" by warships or troop transports. If you click the button on the situation log, it may bring up a list of available vessels or fleets capable of resolving the mission.

Another general trick for dealing with buggy event chains (there's a lot of them) is to jump out to the galaxy map, highlight different ship types till you get one that raises the orange exclamation point in the system, then right click the system from the galaxy map and choose "research all projects in system". I think with the cultist ship there's some kind of offset that makes hitting it from the in-system view functionally impossible. Wherever your cursor is supposed to be it has no clear relationship to what you see on your screen.

They've done a lot of messing with the army system, but they should be recruitable from either the "armies" tab of your planet screen or I think, in recent patches directly from the starbase in your system. An army flies around in a transport ship so that's the vessel type you require if it's demanding a transport.

Grab your corvette fleet and park them next to the ship. Then you can click the button in the situation log.

It used to require transports but not anymore. The perils of looking anything up for this game is that every single mechanic has gone through dozens of versions by now.

Ok so it wasn't bug, just literally didn't know how to move a ship. I was trying to click the corvette, then click 'attack target' then click the hijacked ship. I guess the first thing to do is click the corvette then RIGHT click where you want it to go ( next to the hijacked fleet ), THEN you can click the 'research' button.
