1. I uninstalled the new Paradox Launcher from Windows' Controlpanel.
2. Then I started Stellaris upon through Steam, it then installed the launcher again.
3. Start Steam as admin.
but now im getting an error about "saving mod load order failed.please verify launcher has access to your documents folder". how do i do that ? game was heavily modded .
this fixed
it actualy allows some of the more dangeruse and well known viruses pass and hijack your registry. id remove it asap
As for me i use an AVG/Malwarebytes combo because why not. Comes back from a time when AVG kept detecting something ( can't remember what it was ) but the damn thing wouldn't remove it
But i digress, all free antivirus's are questionable. I've used AVG, Malwarebytes, Avast, and a few others. But every time i come back to the combo mentioned above. Also it's worth mentioning that AVG left stellaris' launcher alone for AGE'S until i tweaked the settings on it just yesterday. Nothing's immune to false positives, and anyone who calls out a specific AV for it is biased.
I personally use ESET, but as another user said above, everyone will give you a different opinion.
What i can tell is that Avast / AVG is well known to give some troubles with gaming in general.
Nowdays windows defender itself is very good, so many users will also suggest you to use no AV at all.
With that said i kind've forgot to suggest that if you do go with AVG you just need to keep the real time protection sensitivity to low to avoid the false positives. At least in my case i never had them until i upped it. While scanning on the other hand you can crank the settings all the way up and it'll leave everything legit alone.
People who haven't realized we aren't on 1.3Ghz single core cpu's anymore. The whole argument for going it alone has always been performance. Something that i, even with two AV's, haven't experienced in the form of a single lost frame.
I realize you aren't suggesting it, but imagine being one misclick away from getting your ass ransomwared or your passwords yoinked because you skimped out on an insignificant and free AV
Naa i'm not going without, that's why i use ESET. But i have many friends just using Defender and they are quite happy with that. Now that you bringing up the issue, one of them actually got his Origin account hacked
