interdimensional laybrinth - what it do?

i always choose to destroy this labyrinth but when i do i get an enormous amount of rare resources. is there some reason why this building is so valuable?
what happens if you dont destroy the building and explore or keep out of it

Long story short, if you study it you will probably get a space-time anomaly on the planet that gives jobs (1 + 1/25 pops) to study it that each produce 8 physics research, 4 engineering research, and 0.2 dark matter.
