Cap on Astral Rifts?

Is there a cap on the number of Astral Rifts you can explore in a single game? I've completed 26 rifts but now cannot explore anymore. Shows a red X when I try to explore the next one (with a green check mark for Rift Sphere technology). I am playing with no mods at all.

i have completed 30 rift but cant explore anymore, the 31 one is subnautical and cant explore it..

I've hit the apparent cap of 30, as well.

There are 32 rifts, one exclusive to Riftworld Origin, one forbidden for Riftworld Origin, so 31 max for any empire.
One is "crystal" which is tied to the mid-game and spawns in your Capital System, I believe.
So there are 30 random ones.

technically you can get all of them, if you capture unexplored riftborn home rift/nexus

Yes, though the rift is worded and coded to expect the Riftworld empire to be the one exploring it, so it makes little sense that the inhabitants would be speaking an archaic version of your language, not to mention it'd state that the rift is in your capital, which wouldn't be the system with the rift if you conquered it.
