If you like to play "normal" empires (non-gestalts) - it's at least worthwhile DLC and I really suggest to buy it when it will be on sale.
UPD. Actually - avoid buying Paragons DLC now. We're expecting a big nerf to leaders in upcoming Astral DLC so better to wait and see how bad it will be. Because, honestly, aside from access OP leaders - Paragons DLC provides nothing.
Yes yes har har :>
What I mean is, they usually release some basic mechanics to support the DLC and then add some additional options for it that you have to pay for the DLC to use.
Was wondering what features from this fit into either category.
- The soft leader cap;
- Stronger traits and specialization.
- Empire council
The vanilla leaders are weaker than the DLC boosted ones, and you only have access to 3 council positions if I'm not mistaken.
While still being affected by the leader cap.
Now I don't need to ask.
Devs supposed to nerf leaders massively in upcoming Astral DLC - better to wait and see now much they nerf major traits.
Sorry, but I completely missed that major info in load of useless advertisements.
Seriously, buying Stellaris DLC is the same no-brainer as claiming every system as a hive.
Yes... Nerf...
To be honest it feels more like they are going for "worse in some ways, better in others".
So i would expect that many of the old meta ways of using them to be nerfed, but there to be new just as powerful ways of using them instead.
Just of the top of my head, using the new commander as a governor with livestock sounds completely broken (sounds like it will be easy to get a colony to 100% stability while having thousands of livestock slaves on it, while also at the same time boosting their output).
But we will have to wait and see until its released and the dust settles.
