beware the habithe unified worlds in dacha system
i once tried to invade them to get the 5 or 6 large size gaia planets full of pops, but they had the power to remove the hyperlane connection to that system, meaning they were cut off from the galaxy. so they could not be invaded.

in future games i ignored them

so basically they had a system next to my territory, but i thought they were a special empire who is locked to their system or something. but they and another empire both declared war on me and it was a very difficult war.

i had an enormous fleet, but the fleet of this dacha empire was even more numerous and higher tech and larger. they had a enormous number of ships.
they split their fleets into groups and i took out their fleets by clustering mine and waging a gurella war. eventually i took their special system and lost a lot of infantry doing it.
they also built a mercenary enclave which spawned full size fleets instantly over and over again. it had to be destroyed.

the other empire who allied to them was dealt with and i chased them out of my territory and won a humiliation victory war goal.

but beware this special empire in the hyperlane anomoly system
they are not peaceful, they will build a bigger fleet than fanatical purifiers and invade u.

Oh yeah I fought them yesterday, a one system empire full of gaia planets, I sent the whole federation that spans half of the galaxy and our fleet almost got destroyed by them, Only like 20k fleet survived from like 500k, but I did manage to seize their system

they can be peaceful, or even not a ftl empire. but someone was probably like "ooh, gaia worlds, lets invade"

I had them in one campaign. A space age pre FTL civ. Had the observation post there for a while and then I got an event where I learned that nothing useful will ever come from observing them and they asked me to leave them alone in exchange for one of their planets.

Got a size 25 gaia planet in my home system as the payment for agreeing to their Suggestion.

They're technically a small Fallen Empire :)

I love them, guaranteed size 25 Gaia world near the capital of your empire is always useful, just perfect for your "dacha" garden. In the Russian language there is a word "Dacha" which means a country cottage.

I did not agree to their offer and the cut the hyper Lane....
I'm gonna necro this, cause I just discovered something many of you probably already know, but, here goes. I'm not giving anything away here, since the OP already mentioned they will close off hyperlanes and get serious when you jump back to their system.
But, I discovered, by accident, once you jump back to them after they close off the hyperlanes, they will immediately become a post-FLT empire, with a huge, advanced fleet. Notice how their ships look suspiciously like your own? Yep, they copy your ship design, that's why. If you blank out your ship designs before jumping in, they will have ships with zero combat ability. Easy win. Just don't forget to redesign your ship templates afterwards, or else you'll build useless ships, too.

That's certainly worth a try , thanks for the tip :) I fought them relentelesly , as they were allied or vassalized by a bigger foe. Had to to keep an eye on their movement but did surprise them with 4 x 230/250K fleets converging on them :P
So used the raw power i had at that moment, but its a nice trick you mentioned :)
