Mods shouldn't be affected by minor patches...Yes, they'll say outdated but as long as they're compatible with 3.8 they should function just fine.

Besides every update brings bug fixes. You know, the things that improve gameplay.

Make a manual copy of your mods & revert to older version of game after new major patch is released.

Devs announce major patches so you have enough time to prepare.

PLAYER666 after previous update: "PLZ GIVE US MORE LEADERS AND FIX BUGS!!"

Paradox: "Here, have some of those and fixes on bugs, enjoy! :)

PLAYER666: "PLZ NO MORE UPDATES, IM SO TIRED OF THIS!!"

*shrugs*

Update has plenty of needed tweaks and fixes imo. And glad we got it so fast. And still few things needed.. So maybe just be better prepared for 3.8.4 when it comes? :)

If only there was a way to back up any version of the game so it remains stable with your mods...

You can also roll back to 3.8.2. Right click Stellaris -> Properties -> betas tab and choose 3.8.2 from the dropdown. This should get you through until your mods are updated.

That's kind of like saying "A Jenga tower shouldn't fall over just because one block was moved." - it is true, until it isn't. The best policy is to assume that every update will break all mods, and so roll back to the version your mods work with before even launching the game when a new update is released. Later, after updated versions of all of your mods are available and all of your current games have been completed, you can roll forward.

lol, just roll back. I'm happy with all the updates for such an old game.

I know paradox is famous for terrible QA. But from a PR standpoint it's a terrible look to release a patch and have to re patch it a few days later because they screwed something up or didn't test it before releasing.

Or patch the re patch, ad naseum.

On the contrary, constant patching (particularly after a major update that fundamentally reworked how the entire game works) is a very clear sign that a) they are keeping a close eye on the community, on how we react and on how we'd like the game to move forward; b) they are dedicating time and resources to keep on top of the issues that arises and c) they are very good at what they do since they develop (generally good and stable) updates in the span of a few short weeks.

Whenever i see posts like these i wonder how many devs may have become embittered with their community due to people like op, lol.

Yeah, I'm tired of all this new content! Back to watching reruns, again! What'll they think of next, a sequel!??? Not in my backyard!

I like living with optimism. Probably why I play updated versions of a game with outdated mods. If I don't experience crashing, I'm happy. If I do, I have the braincells to comprehend that I need to roll back. 99% of the time, the game runs fine regardless of updates and mods used.

Fine. It's pretty clear to me as a loyal fan of Stellaris that the current crop of devs don't like the game they inherited. It's fraud to sell someone one thing then try to change it to something totally different. If you want a new game, build a new game and market it as a new game. If you try to roll your happy fanbase into your new game expect a revolution. This new game sucks. It isn't the game I bought, nor one I'd willingly invest money in.

Just roll back Stellaris to a previous version or wait until your mods are updated. For 3.6, 3.7, and 3.8 I have gone a few weeks to a few months without playing Stellaris so I could wait for my mods to update, don't see how this is an issue.

If some mods are just abandoned by their authors (Which does happen, they have their own lives to attend to) then wait til someone else picks it up, or suck it up and remove that mod from your list and find an alternative or play without it.

You are free to roll back versions until you reach "the game you bought." You're going to have a little trouble proving fraud when you still have complete access to what you supposedly lost.
