Bombardment planet surrender. Has it happened to you yet?
On the tin. I've not had a planet that I'm bombarding surrender yet. Does it happen? What are the circumstances?

So do the planets surrender individually or do they surrender the war?

Individually.
Actually I think that planet surrender will happen more likely if there is a huge fleet strenght supremacy over enemy, cause I did a few wars with the same empire, in first time our fleets was like equal, and I had to conquer planets with armies.

From Stellaris Wiki:
If orbital bombardment destroys the last army the planet has a chance to surrender if the attacking empire has the Allowed Orbital Surrender Acceptance policy. Effectiveness is based on the Fleet Size of the fleet in orbit, although it suffers diminishing returns after 100, and Planet Size, with every 10 Planet Size halving damaged from bombardment.

I was bombarding planets with like 300k fleet strenght and they did surrender.

And this is why I read the Forums!

Plenty of times, the less inhabitated ones can be quickly cleared. Generally still faster to army it but if there are a bunch of planets in one system atleast a few surrender before the armies get there. This is all of course based on bombardment type.

Do the different bombardment types work at different speeds?

Yes. More violent ones are doing more damage = default defense armies are killed faster so you will start to roll surrender checks earlier.

But that's with drawbacks too (diplomacy penalty and it could be dangerous if galaxy already suspicious of you - unifying into a single mega Federation is a common in that case).
