Attack moons worth it?
I am slowly starting to get more and more powerful ships and i am soon done with all the requirements to build a giant attack moon, but i want to know, is it worth it?

Yes, just don't let it ever be caught by itself. It can be swarmed with ease if it has no escort fleet(s).

Attack Moons are so grossly overpowered that they'll only have trouble if you hop a single one in a group of dozens of fleets. They only take 50 Command Points, so it's not like you can't stack multiple together or treat them like a Titan in your fleets. Even then, conventional ships will just get absolutely destroyed by them considering how much firepower a single Attack Moon can pack, combined with it's ridiculous health pool.

It also doesn't help that other AI empires also lag extremely far behind you with Gigastructures because they really don't understand how to build them beyond the basic Kilo Structures until very late game. By the time you even see them starting to get Attack Moons, you can easily have a Multiple Planetcrafts, if not working on the Stellarcraft.

The only time I've ever seen Planetcrafts is with one of the Crisis that comes with Gigastructures or one of the options to give Fallen Empires additional Moons/Planets on spawn and/or on Awakening.

Frankly, nothing about Gigastructures is balanced with AI in mind, because they can't even handle Kaiser's Moon on GA.

Note that Attack Moons are part of a mod (specifically Gigastructures).
It would be wise to give an accurate description of which mods you play with to get opinions worth something.

Assuming Gigastructure is the only gameplay changing mod you have, Attack Moon, Behemoth Planetcrat and Stellar Systemcraft are all extremely (increasingly) powerful ships.

Assuming eco-wise you've got what it takes, you should definitely make them.

yeah the other slight gameplay changing mod is that transformers one. the rest is stuff that changes textures

If you have enabled the crisis with the Gigastructure mode, they are definitely needed to build up the more powerful ships after. Without them, you will not be able to survive the crisis of that mod.

Absolutely. They are totally OP in terms of firepower per Alloy compared to conventional ships; either go all afterburners to make up for the lack of speed, or all hull/armour regen to take advantage of out-healing incoming damage. (being percentage based, with an absolutely massive hitpoint pool)

The X-slot missile batteries can fire from halfway across a Real Space resized solar system, meaning they often win without the enemy firing a shot.

In my experience, the only disadvantage is the slowness, but equally I run a tweaked version of Real Space and it's speed altering submods, and there's probably some weirdness there that makes them take so long to get anywhere.

They need whacking with a massive cost increase, honestly.

Heh. Wait till he sees that awakened fallen empires get 6-9 of them when they awaken. And the Katzen moon will happily destroy yours one on one.

Gigastructures is great, such a fun mod.

Meh, truthfully the Kaiser Moon is only dangerous if you give the Kaiser a chance to build up his fleets/territory. If you can get the starcraft by itself(with its supporting fleet of course) and set it against many little ships (think frigates with g weapons that get damage by size modifiers) you can easily defeat it with a relatively cheap fleet or two
