Original stellaris FTL types
They keep being dipped back into in various ways and all I can think is "why did you remove them in the first place?".
The 'First Contact' DLC even had an origin around the jump drive, which basically operates like the Wormhole-Drive originally did.

quantum catapult is my personal favorite. that would have been a very good way to make hyperspace inhibitors work in the old system, a supposedly impossible task.

tons of people also suggested hyper relays back then as a way to make hyperlanes competitive with the other systems.

and ofc they could have made actual meaningful galactic terrain that was unpassable.

i also like how they are adding more and more narrative content into the game, while at the same time saying victory conditions are stupid.

But hyperlanes back then already worked how hyper-relays do now (except even better) - being able to travel to any linked adjacent system from anywhere in the system edges.

The new jump drive origins are broken anyway, since you have to babysit the ships and AI can't do anything at all with them before getting regular hyperdrive.
And when you research hyperdrive you are now simply at the same spot as regular starter empires.

Devs got tired of trying to balance the 3 ftl types and gave up. Went with the cookie cutter ftl type everyone else and their mother uses. Guess they are trying to do something unique again. We'll see how long it lasts.

Go back and fight against a warp empire while you're stuck with wormholes or hyperlanes. Watch as your fleets try desperately to catch them when warp fleets can jump out of system literally anywhere in that system. It was removed for a good reason, even though the heavy-handed method was unfortunate.

Oh no, not being able to doomstack my way through wars. The horror.
