Blood, Sweat, Tears, Bankruptcy, Stellaris (A Debate)
So I've played Stellaris for a few years now and recently made the turn back to PC. Now I knew I payed a lot for the game over the course of it's life but damn.... I'm not paying over $300 just to access content I already own on something else. While It would be awesome to play it with current content and updates, how do you justify making my total spent on the game over $600. A SINGLE GAME..... for near the price of a console system. LOL

Until the game has a 80% sale or implements some form of user loyalty program, wont be buying it again. As someone familiar with Stellaris: Paradox tends to make some of my favourite games in recent years but I think their games are also perfect examples at charging way too much for far too little content.

What exactly is hard to understand in what I was saying? Or is it said bad memory or some problem with the ability to read? That's the second time that you somehow "forgot" what I was saying in regards to a very specific topic.

And on top of that: If someone is lying (as you were just moments ago), I will clarify that, as well.
Your problem, not mine.
How about you start working on those problems instead of multiplying them?
 Sure

I'm concerned about you, mate.
But that's a me-problem.

IMO what they are doing wrong is charging too much for the older DLC. If they did a 75% off sale on dlc older than 18 months I would bring my copy up to speed so to speak with all the older DLC along with my kids steam accounts. They would get $50-$80 out of me, but as it is, my preference is to forgo the extra content and play the game as is.
Yup. leaves a bit of a bad taste in my mouth but it is what it is.

"It's not charity, and it's not like food and water, not a human right to own"

Not be pedantic, but put your human right to food in one hand and a crisp $20 bill in the other, then walk into a restaurant and see which will get you some food.

In my country we have laws about human rights, so when unemployed etc (or when people get old) we get money from government for food and other "basic human rights". Also we get our rent paid etc, we have also a law that says everyone has a right to a home. We also have a law that says everyone has a right to a job. And when don't have such (mathematically there just is not jobs for everyone, part of unemployment has become structural and is actually kept that way, people are abused as half-free slaves almost on "trainee programs" before getting actual jobs) we get paid still (lesser amount than from a job, but still).

So.. back to my point. You say you would spend that $20 into a restaurant? I would not, i'd buy groceries and cook at home for myself, i'd then save (like i do now) half of my money each month and then be afford to buy gaming PC of 2000eur and different games and all DLC to them because i spend wisely.

So what i am saying is, that there is no forced choice between food (from restaurant or home cooking) or the game, can have both. It already works like that for me. But everyone knows the game/entertainment costs are luxury products, not things that can demand for free based on "human rights" like food for example (in most western countries have wellfare systems etc, but most of them not give you games and stuff, but food yes). Such example should think most would understand though?

Nothing more to add into this. :)

Oh I understand the parasitic giveaway concept, just not the human right part.

sounds like a political giveaway scheme more than a sanctified human right. it isn't free either, someone else is just paying for you with their time and effort.

I will rely on my self governance and efforts to secure food and shelter and not any "gibs me my free stuff/ Big daddy nanny state" human rights.

I've played Stellaris over 1300 hours and gotten more value / paid less than EVE Online subscription.

I've had a copy of this since release, and not all at once did I buy all the DLCs... wishlist that ♥♥♥♥ and wait for sales, or through other discount sites. All I read in your edited OP was ''Paradox charges too much for too little" crying. Grow up. Paradox doesn't care. You not buying won't make them change their minds either. You are but another post on here and other discussions (likely even non-Paradox games!!! omg?!?!) seeking attention. It's your money... spend it how you like, don't try and guilt trip the devs/pubs or the community lol... it won't work. We're probably worse than Paradox lol :cozycastondeath:

Dang man, I actually thought he was joking and then I did the math and hes actually right. This game costs nearly $250 dollars for all its DLC.

I guess just wait until a major sale that cuts its price in half. I am pretty sure thats what I did, though its been so long I cant remember.

I am doing quite well with that myself. :)

I got all that i need, freedom to play whenever i want. With just good old cunning and talents of speaking and performance. I don't need to "beg" for the system here. It's automated and done via internet in 5 minutes, once you are without a job, you login to the site, give details and get benefits automatically for months, even whole year. So no need to month by month go into some wellfare meetings like in some countries. We are civilized and advanced here you see. :)

I have done work also, mostly summer jobs between studies, i'm only 20yr old, and am quite good at that also. At any job i have done. Actually gotten thanked by both clients and by my boss. I have gotten job offers from my clients while doing my work for my current boss. Since they saw the talents in me. I'm a true.. what would one call them, chameleon? I can be anything i want.

The truth is, and obviously i have been thinking about it also, since yeah, it's my life and all.. and people wonder what to do with theirs, why and when and how.

I just kinda never have had "career ambitions", or like a "calling" of something like some have for certain profession. You know, like some doctors, nurses or rescue personnel might have had this urge to go save other peoples lives.

I've never felt any urge towards some career, so it all feels empty for me when i do work. Is that weird? I don't think i'm only one feeling so though. I feel like i'm a bit old fashioned, in a sense that i know women are supposed to these days think careers and work work work like men. But i'm just gonna say it, i've felt that i'd be a happy "stay at home mom" if got married and had kids.

Like i enjoy cooking food, taking care of myself, looking cute. Like you know, oldschool values type of things. I do like games also, i'd play games (with kids also), take care of house, make food, take care of husband. You know, things like that. Prolly someone thinks such values and dreams are things of the past. Most my friends are building careers.. i'm not just interested. I'd not see it degrading or anything to be a "good waifu" for some good man. Behind every great man is also a great woman. Just would need to find my missing piece on this puzzle haha.

So yeah. I've thought about this.. things are not always simple.

Oh and on top of that.. you know, last covid lockdowns and "work from home" months i was literally working from home. It was for me, i enjoyed that. I get sometimes a bit of anxiety and panic attack feelings from full crowded offices with much noise. It feels like people talk on top of each others louder and louder until it's just sort of voice waste in head, like a migraine headache. I know, personal problems.. So i have found my own ways to get by.

Hey, you seem like a good person, nothing was personal against you at all.
I just disagree that free food is a human right. Obviously under certain moral imperatives we should do out very best for the truly needy etc.
The topic would require more exploration than there is an opportunity here to do, so we will let OP's argument carry on.

The basic premise you put forth that OP was not entitled to the game and DLC for free is certainly something I agree with. SO we will stick to that!

Carry on, and good luck!

I did buy all in 2 sales during 4 months time this year, sales are always like every 3 months so easy to plan ahead and save some extra if tight on budget. Next will be on winter sales during holidays times for sure. So yeah, best always to plan and buy when those mostly half prices are up there. :)

And owning all is totally worth it. Then life has meaning. It's like owning your favorite collection of vinyl albums. Yes, you could just have a digital copy. But having the full experience with all the DLC. Letting it play while enjoying that half a glass of most excellent red wine. Priceless satisfaction. ^^

Seeing that full row of green marks as a sign of owning all the DLC once you start a new game and create a new empire. Positive ocd triggers feeling of euphoria when you pick your origins and civics from the DLC content list and make your new empire be whatever you want it to be. Your leaders have the best of traits. Like you yourself in real life. It is only fair.

You know you will have a good time. You want to have it all. You are worth it.

Anyways, time to go play. Hope everyone has a great day! :UDG_Heart:
