How to disable Ironman mode?
I'm around 400 years into a modded campaign and i want to disable ironman mode so i can clean up the galaxy a little. I went into the files metadata and changed ironman yes=no but that didn't seem to work. Anyone have any ideas as to how to fix? is there a quick and easy solution or is my game screwed?

Why are you playing modded Ironman regardless? You're not getting ANY achievements from it.
But last I checked with any PDX Grand-Strategy, there is no way to disable Ironman once it has started.

it wasn't intentional, i had ironman enabled from a previous game and when i started again i got a really good 2 relic world start so i said screw it and kept playing. Unfortunately, the Unbidden spawned while i wasnt expecting it and now im kinda cucked because i dont have the infrastructure or alloy production to handle it.
Maybe theres a third party website or program that knows how? tried editing the files but it don't work.

While I don't know for sure I assume that they have this locked down precisely so you can't do what you want to do.
Being able to just toggle it off and on even with file editing would compromise their whole view on Ironman mode. Not one I agree with but it's just how it is.

i did it after a bit of work, here's how you do it;
1. Go to Documents -> Paradox -> Stellaris ->save games -> save game you want to change
2. Change the ironman.sav file into a .zip file by renaming the file, might have to enable file extensions at the top of the window by clicking View.
3. Once you have the .zip file, open it and there will be a Metadata and Gamestate file.
4. Change both files to a .txt file and open them, do CTRL+F "ironman" change yes->no, save file
5. Do this in both files, then remove the .txt so they revert to their original states.
Compress both gamestate and metadata files back into a new .zip file, you can rename the file so it's not the same as the original.
6. Revert/rename the new .zip folder back into a .sav file.
7. Launch the game, and the save file should be available to play.

that doesn't work for me, it just creates a new ironman.sav file every time I start the game

Tested on 3.14. it worked for me.
The trick is to create a new non-ironman save (the empire you choose doesn't matter), then replace it with the edited save from the iron man game
With 7zip all you have to do is drag and drop the edited files into the .sav

Thank you, thank you, thank you! This method worked for me just now. I had to do exactly this as the AI federation president started a war and would not end it even though the exhaustion was at 100% for both parties and we had occupied the opponent 100%. We were stuck like that for a hundred years or so. I was able to disable the ironman and end the war via console commands (playing as the AI president which started the war). I can now finish this campaign I have poured so many hours into. This made my day,
