First Contact DLC

Should I spend money on the new DLC added to Stellaris? I feel like the DLC is much smaller than usual and don't have a big impact on the game itself.

Anyone who bought it and played it, what do you think of it so far?

I think its worth $15 for the new challenges and changes, but if you have any friends or know anyone who has the new DLC ask to play MP with them with the DLC so you can try it out yourself and then you can evaluate if its worth it.

I'm about to write a review for it. It's not worth the $15

The Afraid of the Dark Origin is interesting and unique, but after playing the game twice w/o going that Origin there's just not enough there to justify the price.

Montu already made a good review of it and the patch that came with it made Ancient Relics the better DLC ironically enough, so I'd wait until First Contact is on sale first unless you know for sure you really want all the features it has.

Do be careful of reviews. Some people can't tell the difference between "Paid" content and "Free" content from the update. So they just put every change as part of the DLC review.

Again there is a method of try before buy as long as you know someone with it.

I generally get every new dlc when it comes out. This week's free update had some excellent quality of life improvements and there are a few nice new things with the paid DLC, but you won't feel like you missed much if you skip it.

welp, it's alot more expensive than most other DLCs, plus rn it's in the "defenetively broken and easily exploitable" state that all DLC have on release, so I'll say wait until a few mods to fix/expand on parts of the DLC to come out first.
