Getting into the game
I really like this game and grand strategy games in general, but they are kinda hard for to get into it. What's the fastest way to learn it? Should i watch videos online (if yes could someone tell me which video helped u the most) or just jump into it and try to play? And maybe the best dlcs to buy

IMO the fastest way to learn is to just dive in and start playing. Learn from trial and error. I absolutely abhor youtube "guide" videos. I've always just jumped into games and learnt them myself instead and it's always worked fine.

Stellaris is probably more accessible than most grand strategy games too. Just play on an easier difficulty setting to being with. The early years in the game are pretty straightforward, just explore with your science ship, expand by building outposts in explored systems using your constructor ship and start colonising new worlds and building up your economy while maintaining a decent fleet to deter attacks.

Oh and if there's anything you want/need more details on the wiki is a great resource! https://stellaris.paradoxwikis.com/Stellaris_Wiki

Depends if your a learn by doing person or a learn by instruction person.

If you really want to learn through suffering, join a multiplayer game, explain you are a noob, and have someone explain what they are doing... as they annihilate you.

Totally second this. Don't be afraid to make mistakes or take risks. You will probably mess up your first playthroughs and learn a lot.

Stellaris is mainly a game about learning and economy management and from there you do whatever you want. As for DLC: Utopia is widely regarded as the only mandatory one to get because it offers the most content.

Originally, I learned the game through Stefan's tutorial guides and while still useful they are a bit outdated so I recommend this instead:

There's a wiki to answer any general question and can be brought up in-game

You might do a tutorial video, the game isn't really hard to play, but some of the more important things can be hidden in the user interface. Odds are you will play a few times before reaching the late game, but that is part of the appeal of the game.

7years I had this game. I'm still a noob

Then I'm here researching again how to play as the new dlc is on the way

If you learn by practicing then boot up a game with a lower count of AI and only 2 forgotten empires. That way you will have enough space to expand and learn without being pressured by too close empires that want you dead...

Not sure how this thread got revived, but It's a great discussion point.

imo, DIVE IN!
After 3-8 hours of not knowing what the hell is going on and staring at the screen, dumbfounded by how everything keeps going to crap, You will Learn something new.
In all reality its maybe best to do both. As your playing and learning the game, check out some videos, research the wiki, and get tips through the community. When staring out remember- its OK to press the space bar and pause the game.

The beginning of my Stellaris Journey goes something like this-

STEP 1: Jump into the game, look over the HUD and controls, push some buttons - Everyone Dies

STEP 2: Restart another game, build some ships, talk to another Empire, Hire some Leaders, Oh crap I forgot to build something important - Everyone Dies

STEP 3: Put in a bit of research, got a couple new DLC packs, Alright now I'm really Ready! Oh Crap, I expanded too fast and All my neighbors hate me - Everyone Dies

STEP 4: Alright lets try this again- Restart the game again, Spend time building a really awesome empire and customizing everything, Wow this is exciting. Wait, There's an Adversary with Gestalt Consciousness!!! - WTF! Everyone Dies.
(Actually not Everyone died, but after trying to maneuver through things politically, I got a bit bored of not being able to fight my Adversaries, so time for another Restart.)

STEP 5: Restart the Game again, Wiser and more experienced. Joy Abounds from the never ending process and near Unlimited Replay value. Thank you Paradox for cultivating my new found addiction :)
