Traditions for Void Dweller ?
I went Technocracy with Heroic Past. Militarist, Materialist and Xenophobe.

So far I have Aptitude, Mercantile and Supremacy.

I usually take Expansion and Discovery, but those are usually early game picks. If you already have three then traditions then they may be less impactful.

Prosperity for sure.

Diplomacy is also good. Even if you don't want a federation, the +5 diplomatic acceptance counts towards your war score.
Discovery is a great one, increase leader pool, exp gain (45% total for scientists!), and research starbase output etc, great to get the tech lead ahead that much more.

Prosperity increase resource starbase output and is generally great too.

Statecraft is pretty nice too, 10% increase agenda speed, +1 effective skill for each council member, 2 years more bonus for each agenda, increase leader pool and more exp when you launching each agenda<- this one is great for leader trait fishing. Right before you launch you hire a bunch of leaders with 1 good trait and see if the level up roll the traits combo you want.

Before I like to take domination for that early 0.5 extra influence but nowadays governor leader down the empire boost path can get you influence much more easily so that's out of the window completely.
I will def check out Prosperity. I was eyeing Statecraft but now I know it is as good as it looks.

Any thoughts on doing genetics/psionics as a Void Dweller?
I don't know about statecraft. The whole agenda thing doesn't look appealing and the step what grants 2 more agendas basically is a dead pick.
Void Dwellers got a lot of rafts in one sector, they need less leaders than other empires.

I had a look at Heroic Past and it looks underwhelming. I'd pick Functional Architecture for opener any time.

The first point into Expansion, so you can do Map the Stars is really nice on Void Dwellers. It provides extra resources beyond the few dwellings you start with.

The extra building slot from Functional Architecture applies to habitats?
Heroic past is great. I open it with vaults of knowledge then swap them out at first opportunity. It can be a hit and miss but for the most part you get enough traits to make the it at least decent for an opener, certainly is more fun to pick over functional architecture with the possibility of surpassing it for voids depending on what you roll for your leaders.
