DO NOT GIVE FALLEN EMPIRES YOUR SCIENTISTS
There is an event where you can give a materialist fallen empire one of your scientists.
As a One Rule origin, i agreed.
They took my MFing luminary.
He had like 8 traits, 2 of them luminary traits.
And the Origin quest line appears broken now.
I dont even want to continue the game anymore.

they took my empire's "luminary". The leader of your civilization from the One Rule origin. He gave +1 genetic points, like +20% to specialists, +10% stability, other bonuses, lives for 300 years, and is also part of the origin questline. The luminary is basically the God King of your empire, inspired from the 40k Primarch. They literally stole my religion and emperor from my civilization.

don't they request a leader by name? so you can see if it's your luminary before you agree?

Story wise it makes sense, since they are looking for a exceptional individual that would be wasted on your primitive empire and that description fits the luminary like a custom fitted shoe.

But ouch that gotta suck.

Let it go, let it go..

You gave up losing one scientist? But... don't you get compensated by better relations with fallen empire?

Synopse May 19, 2023 @ 11:19am
It's a gamble, when the fallen empire ask for a favor. If you reject they maybe crush you for you insubordination. If you comply they maybe reward you for your loyality. Always loved the tough choices they provide.

That event is outdated.

Before a leader gets taken is most of time an okay lose, but now almost every one of your leader in the leader pool is most likely custom tailored and leveled up for bonuses. Losing one to the fallen empire event almost never match up to the potential rewards.

The event explicitly names the scientist they want. Granted the fact that the Luminary is considered a valid option for this event is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid, but it still gives you a chance to check if the leader they want is one you are willing to give up.

I said no to some scientist... they attacked me with an army 50 times bigger than anything in any other empire and steamrolled my game I've spent 20+ hours playing in seconds. I had several 25k armies and I was the biggest fish in my side of the world... but I didnt give them a scientist so they steam rolled my my federfation with a 385k fleet.

Pathetic game and I've lost all interest.

If your small fry compared to them you'd be better off saying no to the scientist and then surrendering the war as soon as possible. They hold the endgame ship techs that can't be acquired any other way so lategame you will want to fight them but that early better to take the minor effects of humiliation. A bit of diplomatic weight and unhappyness to keep a scientist is nothing. Alternatively they sometimes pay very very very well if you get in their good books. 385k is actually pretty undersized, I usually see them with 680k.

if I recall they kill your leader if you lose the war or surrender or is that only certain types of fallen empires?

Yes, if you're not gestalt your ruler will be killed.

Think it's probably only certain types, don't think I've ever had that happen to me though they also rarely wardeck me for telling them no so I haven't been in a war with them early much since my newbie days. Global positive buffs to relations give them the buff as well and even a single one seems to prevent the war decks outright from saying no. I suppose with the new leader mechanics losing a leader would be annoying these days but before it never meant much.

Lol O you say what. They took your origin leader ! and you only get one ?!?
Wait... did the questline stop when they took em?
Im laughing so hard its crazy.
In all honesty though it does sound like something I'd quit a game for.

Also are you running mods that may be changing the back end game? If so an outdated mod can wreck havoc
