(Bug) Hilariously have to destroy my own empire to get payback
- As above payback origin - I have destroyed MSI with the end threat CB and now the game is telling me to destroy my own empire to get payback?

Further payback is for the 'Unshackled' empire, that's also created with the 'Payback' origin, if they're the ones who destroy the MSI before you. In which case you would have a choice of accepting it and peacing out or turning your rage towards the them as they denied you the chance for revenge.

Yeah, definitely buggy. Unless maybe the devs have slipped in a new hidden 'Self-Loathing' trait for empires. Or you upped the retirement age of your citizens from 62 to 64 without a parliamentary vote on the matter.

Its only two years, people should be grateful they even get to retire at all. In fact, they should be grateful for not having a pension and being depressed. Also what does politics have to do with the game having a bug.

Sorry. My bad. For a moment there I forgot it was 2023 and that the internet is now infested with 'humour police' who spend every waking moment intentionally looking to be offended.

You sound offended. Indeed it has.

No, they sound annoyed because explaining a joke takes away from it. You sound offended they made a joke in the first place.

I was the empire that killed them - the situation log is literally telling me I stole my own payback...

If it was a joke worth while it would still be funny even when explained. This is why I'm confused what he meant at all. Also to count as offended I would have to be annoyed. Rather not the case actually. I picked apart his post for the flaw in it psychotically systematically. If you got a problem with that guess your offended too. If this is what humanity passes as entertainment we are all doomed. I will not stand for that. I shall sit down.

Whatcha gunna do? Give me pay back ?

I bet you it was a one off thing, try starting a new game. It won't happen a second time. Don't hope for that the developers have a mean streak.

Happened to me too, the same bug on one playthrough.

Declared the Payback CB war to MSI, they had 3 allies joining, so it was me alone against them 4. I did target MSI first (most dangerous, and also kinda thought when defeating them the war would end, or at least faster). But nope, killed MSI by taking all their system.

And nothing happened. Except a the usual notification when an empire is wiped out fully. And the Payback on my log changed to Payback that i must now defeat my own empire since i stole the Payback from myself. What i most certainly did not, i wiped them out.

Not sure if because of MSI allies + vassal. So i proceeded to kill all of them too. And nothing. Same bug still even after that whole war over by me defeating MSI and all it's allies COMPLETELY leading my empire being like half the size of galaxy.

And still the "You must now destroy [My own empire] for stealing payback. What of course is impossibru.

Oh well. Have not had many bugs for me this update, but that run it kinda ruined since goal unachievable due to the bug. *sigh*

Maybe if had taken out MSI allies/vassals first and MSI as last the bug would not had appeared? Not sure tho, hope it gets fixed asap tho.

I like the Origin a lot and it's fun to play, but want the "happy end" dopamine fix of getting it done without chance of getting bugged. :)

A generation with a life expectancy of 80-100 years asking for retirement at 62 is pure decadency.

If you plan to work until you die, that's your concern.

I happen to think that working hard and being decently paid ought to result in someone being able to retire early.

It's good you apologize.
When you make a well-placed joke like that you should not let a troll make you post a second comment.
You're supposed to drop the mic and not come back to the thread (unless to answer the OP/the actual topic), letting the troll be an add-on to the joke by his inability to understand it.

You ruined your joke and for that I resent you. It was a 10/10 joke and you made it a 5/10 at best. Shame on you.

The problem being his inability to have a life outside of work will lead to you having to sacrifice your life either because you have to work until you die or because you will have to suffer poverty for not wanting to die at your work.

So I would argue it's very much everyone's concern.

Then again, like every troll, they should be :
- Blocked.
- Ignored.
- Privately mocked.
- Definitely not answered to.

No one comes to Steam for actual politics. A snarky joke about the situation is a very good tool to make a lot of people laugh (admittedly a pretty sad laugh, but hey you take what you can!), and people who feels the need to say "Urr durr lazy people" should just be quietly left to their devices with the same embarrassed smile you share with people when a drunkard comes into public transport and start yelling at the wind.

The retirement laws were made when most people barely lived to 65. Rich people maybe made 75.

If someone born in 2003 just started working at the age of 20, then retires at 60, lives to the age of 100, they spent half their adult life in retirement. That system is economically impossible.

Oh, right. The guy starting a political extremist debate makes a "snarky joke".

When the reality check comes in, it's suddenly trolling?

Also, reported for promoting harassment.

oh good, another off-topic politics thread destined to get locked as soon as a mod wakes from its slumber

Executives don't care as they can generally make enough money to give themselves an artificial pension. People concerned with pension age tend to be people whom already have promised pensions. Society isn't an infinite pool of money and I wouldn't be surprised if the whole pension idea went out the window like a fad.

What the second poster was referencing was the questionable political decision of the French government. I am not surprised they made one like that, their economy had already been hit hard.

As far as the decision goes it only affects government jobs. As that government declaration of pension age only does so. Companies can pay out earlier. But rather they are setting the standard to a pension two years later. Which is why everyone is angry. Many corporations give benefits but not necessarily pensions.

Working is good for people, you can't do the physical jobs sure in old age but lots of jobs can still be done. How I see pensions is its not a privilege, but a security thing for government workers. You can't have unstable minds scared of losing their employment working jobs where the person needs to be level headed. Thats the only point of pension I can understand other than... freedom.

Its not funny and should not have been referenced if it actually effects people. Of all the jokes he could have made chose it must be that one. All I see here is the second poster throwing in a life is futile political block to a thread with no solution.
