Paragons + Hive Minds?

So i played 2 games with my hive mind fungoid empire after buying galactic paragons DLC, and began wondering why i never saw any paragons or special leaders appear. I read online you're supposed to get xeno-linguistics research guaranteed after your first contact, but mine never showed up, so i can't build an interstellar recruitment office or get them to appear.

At first i thought it was bugged but, it seems hive minds have been completely excluded from this entire mechanic, which is pretty annoying. Why? There was no notification this would be the case anywhere, not in the empire creation menu, nor the store page, or even much mention of it online either.

I guess i kind of get it from a lore POV, but then you also have assimilation and other ways to incorporate non native species into your hive. Was it disabled because it'd be too broken?

Is there any way i can get a paragon whilst playing a hive mind? I'd love to know. TIA.

It does not come up but you can still get event based special heroes.
