web browser keeping stellaris from fully closing for anyone else?
just figured out that if any web browser, firefox, chrome etc is running while i quite the game or launcher, it shows the game as still running in steam and wont download any mod updates etc. force closing steam works, but i just figured out if i just close firefox it will then close in steam like clockwork. figured this all out after testing mod load orders, lots of closing and reopening the game etc..

Stellaris, why are you the way that you are? Honestly, every time I try to do something fun or exciting, you make it not that way. I hate so much about the things that you choose to be.:bleach:

doubt itis the browser. I have had the game close but yet is still running in the background and you need to use task manager to close it.

it was a repeatable bug, even after deleting the launcher 2.exe and verifying files, but just now as i was getting a recording ready to stick it to you prove it to you, the launcher had an update that actually fixed it. was starting to think that because i have steam mod links set to open in Firefox that maybe my adblocker was preventing paradox sending cloud save data or something. wish i tried with a browser running that i didn't have any extensions on, and know that all sounds bats-hit but now we may never know.
remember the truth is out there.

This has nothing to do with this game. It is a Steam thing. Whenever you start any program (usually games) through Steam, it will keep an eye on that program, and show it as running, as long as it or any program that it launched, or any programs launched by those is still running. Steam sees the whole chain of programs starting each other as part of the game.
This was done so game that have a launcher can still be tracked by Steam, instead of Steam seeing the launcher as the main program, and not tracking the game launched by the launcher.

So whenever a game launches a browser, that browser counts as the game for Steam. The only way to prevent this, is to launch the browser outside of the game, so when the game tries to open the browser, it does not launch a new process, because the browser is already running.

It is also a good thing, so games can't just start something that keeps running in the background without anyone noticing.
