Stellaris
Current state of Overlord & Nemesis?
Only two I don't own. Am I missing out?

Reviews don't look good but I don't necessarily want to base it solely off of that as a lot of them will be older and there might've been patches etc. Plus, to be honest, most people who review games on steam generally can't be trusted anyway.

Most negative reviews are about the free patches that released alogside the DLC, which you'll have whether you buy the DLC or not.

The two DLC make the game objectively better. Enough to justify the price? That's personal opinion. However, no one can deny the game is better with the DLCs. If money is no object, you should definitely pick them up.
Nemesis gives the ability to become the Custodian or Crisis in order to protect or destroy the galaxy and that's about it. While espionage is a joke things do get more fun when one big, bad AI player becomes the crisis and everyone has to work together to stop him.

Overlord gives a lot more varied things from two new enclaves, three special vassal types, five new origins, and lastly Orbital Rings and Hyper Relays so a lot more quality of life content in this expansion, however, it does give the worst Megastructure (and origin) in the game.

And the patch that came with it completely broke the ai so every game is a race to see if the ai subject themselves to you or a different ai first...

Is this still broken? Wanted to jump back into Stellaris since I haven't played in a while.
There needs to be another pass on the espionage system to make Nemesis' main features worth it. It's fun to play as the crisis / become the galactic custodian though.

I personally think Overlord was great.

Define "broken". There are still more vassals than there were before, but there is nothing broken about that and it is certainly nothing like bri claimed.

I've mainly been out of the loop and have been seeing people call it "broken". If it's not that bad, I guess I'll give it another try this weekend.

It is that bad when two ais beg an inward perfection player empire with less than a dozen ships to subjugate them despite having more planets and bigger fleets. And every single game I've played on the current patch at least one ai nation has done the same. Not to mention all the ones already kissing $%^& by the time you meet them and get through the excessively long first contact process...
Thanks for the input guys.

I guess that's been the thing thats been concerning me most I don't want every game to be a subjugation rush. But then, even if it is, and some things are "broken" I can always disable the DLC right?

Sure, but the ai issue is in the base game patch so disabling the DLC won't fix the problem.
Idk about overlord. But as for me Nemesis is quite fun. when I play Nemesis with friends sometimes I take Crysis and they have to stop me for blowing up the stars or Im gonna stop them and then comes the Great Khan, and sometimes I open the Lcluster for more fun in galaxy then comes the crysis that is targeted by me to my friends strongest empire. It is fun. Even if my Crysis megastructure is destroyed by them and my empire is well worn they sometimes cannot fight on two fronts with khan crysis Lcluster and me... Such game becomes memorable... I Recomend Nemesis only If you are adequate while playing with people & they are adequate & You not afraid to use the dark side of the force ingame=D
I see both as invaluable additions. The expanded espionage Nemesis brings to the table is extremely useful if you put effort into it. While the additional vassal types brought in with Overlord are super overpowered.
Like if I can't become a vassal state of a neighboring empire early in the game I actually feel sad now. Since the benefits of any of the three far outweigh the negatives.

As others have said, the DLC isn't the cause of any "subjugation rush". Hence, if you haven't noticed any such rush, then it isn't happening in your games and won't start with the DLC.
Overlord is cool in the sense that being subjugated is no longer restart inducing. The expansion really does it make it that much better to be on the receiving end of vassalage with the 3 new types you can negotiate for. Standard snowballing games I don't actually interact much with the features of the expansion outside of relays and the origins. Relays are mindbogglingly amazing though tbf.

Nemesis is okay I guess. I think the ideas behind it are good, but the execution still leaves a little more to be desired. Emperor and Espionage kinda suck, ngl. I won't say don't get it, but you may as well at some point, but not before Overlord.
The rebellions mechanics are completely broken. A single world can rebel, and take a huge bite of your territory. For instance, a single world to the west of my capital system rebelled. They took the two systems nearest their rebellion world. Then jumped to the other side of my capital and took 7 more systems. They then had a fleet of 30k, which is my max fleet size. I had to fight a prolong war against them, slowly taking back territory until they finally attacked a defense point and I crushed them. The idea that rebellion's can happen isn't the issue. Its the mechanics behind the rebellion's the game devs build in. Galactic politics is interesting but this rebellion's system is almost game breaking.

And, bring on the corporate white knight snarky response.
