Empire color on map broken?

So I ahve nae played ina couple DLC's and i decided to play this weekend. I made a new empire and picked black primary color and red secondary. But my empire mapo color is an ugly orange cloud. So I made a new game changed to green secondary... still ugly orange cloud. Any ideas?

Yep. It's a thing. If the first and second colours aren't different enough from each other according to some strange Paradox algorithm that no one has access to, it changes the map colour often with gaudy consequences. The only work around is to create the nation, then manually edit the empires file.
