Not counting my federation victory?

I think I just won a game, but the pop-up that appeared when I should have won said that another federation, with only 50/223 planets required won -- it says that my federation owns 229/223. I really wanted the victorious achievement, but it says it's still locked. Any idea what's happening here or how to fix it? (I don't use mods or anything)

not really sure what happened exactly, but fed-victory has been wonky basically since release. Hopefully that will be adressed when they rework diplomacy and HOPEFULLY make federations something you actually WANT to use, instead of the boring mess you better not touch with a 5 ft pole they've been since release. (As you might already guess I'm not a fan of the actual federation-mechanic and especially how lackluster it is, so I havent joined or founded one since before version 1.5)

Wait, really? If so, that's really bad game design, given the president rotates every 10 years. Also, why would it say that another federation won then? Can AI's even win?

No idea. Might be something in the message text or winning conditions, like League doesn't count or always winning or some other nonsense.

I just lost a Victory that belonged to the Federation i've been apart of and a completely different faction won it instead.

We had half the galaxy falling to our knees and i had the resources to field 4 full battleship fleets and have the ability to destroy one of these fallen empires only to be robbed by some glitch or some convoluted victory condition that should of been mentioned right away to everyone so they win it as the president.

You used to just be able to continue playing the same game until you were president and then the achiev would pop. Tho this was a while ago and no idea if it still works like that.
