Grand Archive: Fleet Designs
Hey there ladies and gents!

I've been sifting through the forums here on steam and noticed there wasn't a dedicated discussion for fleet designs so i thought i'd start one. To keep this more interesting then a simple archive of fleet designs, i thought it would be a cool idea for your designs to have some backround. I'll leave an example format below so you can just copy & paste and fill in the details but feel free to use whatever format you'd like.

-Example-

Fleet Name:

So to start this bad boy off ill post what i think to be the best fleet design ive yet to come up with

Fleet Name: The Centurion Fleet
Military Power: 41770.9
Naval Capacity Used: 248
# of Corvettes: 0 # of Destroyers: 0 # of Crusiers: 24 # of Battleships: 19
Corvette Specs: None

Destroyer Specs: None

Crusier Specs: 1 large Tachyon Lance, 3 medium Gauss Cannons, 2 Guardian Point-Defence, 1 large Hyper Shield, 1 large Neutronium Armor, the Advanced Bombardment Computer, and Zero Point Reactors

Battleship Specs: 2 large Tachyon Lances, 5 medium Gauss Cannons, 2 Guardian Point-Defence, 2 large Hyper Shields, 1 large Neutronium Armor, 1 medium Neutronium Armor, the Advanced Bombardment Computer, Ship-Mounted Nanobot Cloud, and Zero Point Reactors

Story Behind The Fleet: After decades of studying the advanced ships of elder races, the Graysmith Directorate, a galactic leader of scientific research engineered the most powerful fleet the galaxy has ever seen. The Centurion Fleet, equipped with the most advanced weapons known to man, defended the Directorate from the cursed Prethoryn Scourge. A small fleet of only 43 ships managed to single handedly defeat the scourge that had infested nearly half the galaxy. To this day, no empire has dared to challenge the Directorate, and survive.

Side note: This fleet is actually a little op, it can easily take on an 80k fleet while only losing 1-2 cruisers which are easily replaced. Losses are slightly larger when fighting ships that also have extreme range but are still light.

Early Game:
Fleet Name: Gimb Fleet 1-4
Military Power: varying with available tech

Corvettes: 24
Destroyers: 14
Crusiers: 8
Battleships: 4
Corvette Specs: 3 small weapons, best available. Rest auto design with best available

Destroyer Specs: 1 large best Laser option available and 2 point defense. Rest auto design with best available

Crusier Specs: 2 large best Laser option available, 1 medium laser, 2 point defense. Rest auto design with best available

Battleship Specs: 5 large best Laser option available, 4 point defense. Rest auto design with best available

Story Behind The Fleet: Just the early corvette/destroyer spam with later battleships for more range. They stay active until the first Battleship only fleets are ready. If a single fleet is "to weak" for a early AI, band two together.

Endgame
Fleet Name: Attack/Defense Force 1-6
Military Power: Depends on enemy

Corvettes: -
Destroyers: -
Crusiers: -
Battleships: 12

Battleship Specs: Blanket Counter Design http://imgur.com/a/ad7gw (switched to full lance if Scourge or shieldless enemies)

Story Behind The Fleet: No big story needed. it is just the "Bring your machinegun to a knifefight" playstyle. As long as you can engage any enemy on longrange for lancepower, you cripple the AI. If your fleet jumps into a system on top of a "close combat" encounter like the Scourge, you can still dish out dmg but you will pay with ships in the end. if 12 battleships are not enough, you can band fleets together to get more strength. Last time I needed 40 battleships in a single fleet, I had a massive Socurge Invasion and was not nearly ready with the lategame tech. But focusemitter range could at least hold them at bay until the first lance was ready.

### Human Science Directorade - Progress trough sience. ###

The strategy of always attacking at three different points was born in desesperate times. The year was 2354, earth was destroyed, dominated by armies of a Stagnant Ascendancy, a fallen empire that was outraged as the Human Science Directorade advanced in synth technology.

Our agenda, was progress trough science, but as we gove the synthetics citizen rights and treated them as equals in our empire, living side by side, machine and men, the Ascendancy contacted our leaders. They viewed the synthetics as aberrations of science that must be purged from the galaxy.

But the synths were brothers to us, we would never destroy our greatest creation. This started a foolish, but destructive war, the Directorade was not prepared to deal with such powerful military, we had no choice but to abandon our empire capital, whose location was too close to the Ascendancy. Earth was quickly dominated by the conquering invaders.

Our great commander Caius Olibur led us trough an desesperate war, earth was lost, but we would not concede, we needed to stand our ground, we were forced to fight like a guerilla, doing multiple attacks with small but fast fleets, holding the expansion of the Ascendancy conquering force.

At the same time, on the other side of the Directorade, the most distant worlds of our empire, led by Aldebaraan the Directorade most powerful colony on the south, started building space stations and preparations for a liberation fleet whose power would be enough to retake our empire capital from these preposterous attackers.

As this fleet was ready, we named it The Earth Liberation Fleet, build with technology we scrapped from the invading aliens trough analisis of the debris sccatered arround the fields of battle.

Time has come, we would use our enemy technology against them. Our Liberation fleet was ready, construction ships were positioned strategically to build defensive stations on Earth's system as soon as we took it back, hopefully providing enough power to garantee the defense of our empire capital on the ongoing war. Transport fleets, with the most brave of our men, strategically trained in the military academy of Aldebaraan were ready to retake our home world.

As the battle started it seemed that the liberation of Earth was granted, but them, fear took our hearths, our liberation fleet was indeed enough to deal with the enemy fleet on earth, but as we attacked, more enemy fleets came to aid the Ascendancy, our commander had to win strategically, because numbers were not on our side.

Thus the three point strategy was born, in the heat of battle, the great fleet commander Caius Olibur, inspired by strategies of a long forgotten empire that once were great military conquerors on Earth, remembered in military strategy books as "The Macedonian Empire" a civilisation that many Humans didn't belive trully existed.

Caius Olibur held the battle against the great military fleets send by the Ascendancy as reinforcements to their fleet blockading Earth, that was perishing to our commander. As he held the battle, gaining precious time. Caius ordered the remaining Directorade fleets, that were scaterred arround the empire, to concentrate on Alpha Centaury and upgrade their ships to the latest design, preparing a new force of total 10k military power. Thus the Alpha Centauri Attack Fleet was born, from the remaining ships that were not lost druing the war, and rushed towards Earth, to reinforce the Liberation fleet.

War waged, the tides of battle turned to our side, Alpha Centauri Attack Fleet was a crucial reinforcement to the Earth Liberation Battle of 2356, two years after the Ascendancy invasion started we finally took back our home world.

But the Directorade would not make white peace with the Ascendancy, by the time Earth Liberation Fleet and Alpha Centauri Attack Fleet won the Earth Liberation Battle, it was at great costs, we needed to repair our fleets, but we also needed to crush the remaning forces of the Ascendancy.

While our empire capital was being rebuild and the repairs of our fleets was being done, our Commander received reports from our engineers of Aldebaraan. The Aldebaraan and the south colonies fleet production was not stopped, reports indicated that joining all the forces from the south we could total a new fleet of 16k military power.

Commander Caius Olibur Ordered those forces to move to Sirius Prime. There, they joined together and Sirius Prime S&D Fleet was born. A fleet with one sole purpose, search and destroy the remaining Ascendancy sccatered fleets, while the Earth Liberation Fleet and Alpha Centauri Attack Fleet, now ready after the needed repairs were done, waged war to the Ascendacy territory, suported by powerful android armies, conquering the Ascendancy Ring Worlds.

Caius Olibur died in the year 2357, without seeing the end of the Great War, but his three point strategy, attack planets with two fleets, while a remaining one wages trough enemy territory searching and destroying unprepared enemy fleets, won us the war on that same year, conquering the entire Ascendancy territory and casting their empire into forgotten history.

Now the Human Science Directorade, who started his galaxy history as an ongoing force of progress trough science, maintaning peaceful relations with its neighbours, was a feared military force. Our neighbors now saw us as threatening and do not want to have trade relations with us.

This forced the Directorade into transforming itself from a peaceful empire, only waging defensive wars, into a galaxy conqueror, respected by the advanced technology obtained trough the Great War, and feared by the remaining empires of the galaxy.

But the conquering wars are ongoing, their history as yet to be written...

Fleet name: Commonwealth Grand Battle Fleet
Military Power: 158K
No Corvettes
No Destroyer
100 Cruisers
40 Battleships

Cruiser Specs: 1 Tachyon Lance, 3 medium matter Disintergrators, 2 Guardian Point Defence
Battleships Specs: 1 Tachyon Lance, 1 Medium matter Disintergrators 6 small matter Disintergrators, 2 advanced Bomber Wings, 1 Advanced Fighter Wing

Story: As the Commonwealth began its exploration of space they found themselves trapped between a hostile empire and a fallen empire, the foreign policy of the Commonwealth was decided on that day, crush the weak xenos and claim their rightful place as rulers of the galaxy.
My main fleet? I have no "main" fleet, my most recent finished game had me with a Command fleet with three other fleets to escort that one and a patrol fleet to deal with problems in the core worlds, my empire rules the galaxy with an iron fist, so I didn't feel like I needed to keep tabs on MY military as much as I did before.

I do think though the Command fleet (the largest of my fleets) was around 20-30k power with a heavy focus on cruisers and battleships, the three fleets varied in composition but were around 20-25k not as big, but there were three of them, plus the Command Fleet.

The Patrol fleet was made up only of destroyers and came up to around 10k

My empire had a heavy focus on laser weapons but used a lot of projectile and torpedo weapons as well, we also tened to use shields more thaan armour.

(I'd finish this but I'm in a rush)

Fleet Name: Scourge Exterminatus Fleet
Military Power: 49.3 K
Naval Capacity Used: 520
# of Corvettes: 0 # of Destroyers: 20 # of Crusiers: 25 # of Battleships: 15

Destroyer Specs:
1 Plasma Cannon, 4 Guardian point defense. Majority shields, some armor. Swarm behavior.

Crusier Specs:
1 Focused Arc Emitter, 2 Plasma Cannons, 4 Guardian Point defense. Balanced shields and armor. Bombardment behavior.

Battleship Specs: 4 Tachyon Lances, 8 Guardian Point defense. Majority Armor, some shields. Bombardment behavior. 5 variants with different auras.

Story Behind The Fleet:
During the year 2462, an unknown signal was detected approuching the edges of the galactic space. It was soon to be named the Scourge as massive fleets of battleship-sized bio-organic creatures and their escorts would ravage through more than half of the galaxy, devouring empires with barely any resistance... until they reached the Republic of Terra's border in the year 2487.
Seeing empire after empire being devoured, even the supposed invulnerable Fallen Empires. The Republic tasked its scientists and engineers to develop counter-measures and retrofits after the sacrifices of its alien allies, switching from missile weapons and armor technology to energy and point defense.
Finally when the Scourge reached the borders the Terran Republic, its massive hive fleets were diverted towards a barren system fortified with half a dozen fortresses using subspace snares. There they were systematically dismantled with the combined might of the Exterminatus fleet and the supporting fortresses.
Only after the near endless tide of bio-organic ships subsided did the Fleet begin its long journey into Scourge space, systematically bombarding infested planets and destroying space stations.
