Ironman Cheats
Is there any way to use cheats while in Ironman mode AND still get achievements? I never cheat normally, but I've found myself in a very bad spot, because a faction I declared war on can apparently attack from 3x the distance my ships can.

I know console commands don't work, but what about Cheat Engine?

And again, I don't usually use cheats. This is a one-time thing.

No, that's why it's Ironman.

So you're 100% sure Cheat Engine won't work?

Pretty sure it won't. Any modifications to certain codes make ironman unselectable or if you are in an ironman game, invalid. Bad luck I guess.

all of these issues should be fixed by addressing some underlying broken mechanics.

For example, you wold not need to cheat if the drive types in the game were balanced.

Tried it out and it works! :)

???????
They ARE balanced, he is not losing because of the drive types, he is losing because he failed to scout enemy ships and adapt to its attack

Any way to edit my save to change it from ironman to not-ironman?
I got all the achievements I can get in one game, but now it runs terribly.

You are overestimating them, most of it is scripted and there is only one trick i've found so far which is quite lame .... after month 1 the menory locations for the resources move by 128 bytes.

I just tried it and it works just fine... minerals, energy, influence can be found by multiplying in 1000s so 50 minerals is 50000 in double (4 byte), build time cannot be changed and not crash the game (probably the values are constants and not variables ~ maybe?) but you can change the bonus quotas on the planet and give yrself immense bonus in build time thus have everything finish in 1 day... and that' took me ~35 minutes...
I will build a trainer if anyone is interested for the above but not going to lose more time to find other things as I do not care about cheating especially in an rts (sorry no point)

Even suggesting something like this could lead you to be banned from the forums and even have the game removed from your library. It's really not worth it. Best thing to do is to change your ship designs to longer range guns.

Never resort to cheats or modifying game files by any sketchy means like trainers, I learnt that one the hard way a couple years ago.

Steam couldn't care less about achievements , especially ones from single player games. There are mods and ways to add every achievement for any game ( and i know for a fact Skyrim and Fallout 4 ). I have seen people do it and have 2k + hours with it. It's easy to tell too as all achievements are unlocked at the same time.

For every game there's a certain ... manager that with a bit of googling you can find and use with ease.

Im aware of Steam Achievement Manager, and I also know people who have been banned for using it.
