Citadel Issue
Ok so star bases are buggy. Now... I have Zero Point Reactor (Rank V Reactor) With Rank V shields, and weapons.

Now. I realized my Citadel STOCK runs out of energy and the last 4 Shields are only rank IV.

Here's the issue, since I ran out of energy already, if I spec into weapons modules (Guns, Missiles, or Hangar bay). Nothing happens.

AKA

I buy the modules, but since I have no energy, those slots are empty.

DA FUQ IS WRONG!? Are there better Reactors than rank V now? Da Fuq. *sigh*

Any way to get more energy, or did the creators mess up BIG time?

No, the devs didn't screw up, you have a finite budget of available power (this is also true for ships). Use some of the those slots for armor; it's up to you to find the right balance based on need and available tech.

The only way to get more power is through mods, or fallen empire tech (dark matter reactors).

Unless you're talking about being out of energy credits, in which case yeah that's weird, but it shouldn't depopulate the slots, it should just halve (I think) the fleet power of the station and your ships.

You cannot Customize Stock Citadels. STOCK Citadels with MAX reactor and Rank V Shields and Rank V weapons STOCK, Depleted Citadel power level to Zero.

You cannot budget Power available because the game rolls them themselves. Leftover power can be directed into Modules and Weapon Slots.

HOWEVER, you literally run out of power for the station before you can mess around with costumizing your Citadels.

Make sense?

Basically create a new save file, Get Rank V reactors, Shields, 'A' slot and weapons.

Then just upgrade a starbase to a Citadel and you'll notice the last couple of slots for shields will always be rank IV's, and when you tech into any weapon modules, they will always be empty because you already ran out of Power (energy).

There is actually a better reactor, the dark matter reactors used by FEs, which you can use yourself after destroying some of their ships and doing salvage, along with tier 6 shields and thrusters.

Sadly no.

However it doesn't even matter on weapon modules cause you run outa Reactor Energy stock.

Last 3 Shields will always be rank IV if you have rank V Shields, Reactor, Energy weapon, Missile Weapon, and Projectile Weapons.

Second to last rank starbase is fine. Citadels are currently broken though. :/

You cannot even achieve MAX rank V Shields and weapons on a STOCK Citadel.

Weapon Modules tap into Power Generation.

With only 4 Power Generation available, you cannot use any weapon modules. GG.

Defensive Platforms 'DO' have there own Power generation so you're safe there (no brainer).

Ive ran my experiment with an old game. I never use mods for context.

Stage 1: Star Fortress with all modules.

Modules did add weapons to the citadel. The last module appeared to add 3 empty weapon slots. This might be the point I ran out of energy as I was researching missiles along the way of converting the starbase. But at the very least I seem to have been able to support for more systems then you did.

Small tweak but doesn't really mess with Power Usage (PU) that much. But I had rank V Missiles, you have the rank III version. (G) Slot for weapons.

Also, scroll down on your Utilities. You have lower rank shields than I do. 3 Rank IV's and 13 Rank V's Where you show you have at least 12 Rank V's and 4 unknown shield slots.

If you use weapon modules it tweaks your other slots depending on the order you upgrade the star base.

AKA, upgrade max weapons and shields to rank V, upgrade to citadel, look at everything, THEN buy some weapon modules.

We'll have the same stats as long as you upgrade to RANK V fully and upgrade to a completely empty Citadel.

tbh I normally skip research missiles in their entirity in runs because they are so underpowered compared to line weaponry.

14 type V shields and 12 Type V armour.

It looks like you can support 5 weapon modules with type 3 missiles or 4 modules with type 5 missiles.

The Citadel can support some weapons systems if you upgrade the starbase as you go along. But you'll have weaker shields and lower rank weapons systems.

However if you just use a stock Citadel with no weapon system modules. No you can't use the 6 weapon slots because you're already out of power.

So you either go with more weapons, but weaker rank, or go with Rank V weapons with near MAX rank V shields.

How do you fix this?

It's clearly a bug, DEVS messed up with the Zero Point Reactor Power Generation.

It should be like 4000 power instead of 3200

also, I haven't used mods yet. And I own every expansion pack so I'm up to date.
